    Beasley was a rotation player on an NBA playoff squad last year. Seeing as how I didn't even think we'd add another guaranteed contract to the roster, I'd be happy with similar productivity from Yi on our rebuilding team.

    To be fair though, I'm a bit biased. I've come to terms with the fact that I kinda have a fetish for stretch 4's, mainly because they're so useful in 2k :D

    I bet Yi is rated like a 65 in the game, but I'll be able to consistently use him for 2-3 open three pointers in just a few minutes of play.

    It indicates there's a huge marketing void in China created with Kobe's retirement. That's all I can see this being, a business move. Don't underestimate what a guy like Yi does for our Chinese fandom. Pretty smart from a business end. How could this possibly be for basketball reasons.

    I'm not going to hate on this signing yet before seeing the contract length. But this makes no sense to me for 2 reasons:

    1) We're already loaded in the Front Court

    5 - Mozgov, Black, Zubac
    4 - Randle, Nance, Black

    2) There were multiple reports during his stints in the NBA that coaches questioned his work ethic and heart/passion for the game.

    Granted things can change, and he might have matured a little bit but you can't teach passion and love for the game. I also don't believe we should look at what stats he's putting up in China. They are 0-5 and he is there best player, points have to come from somewhere.

    I'd be fine if this was a veteran's minimum or camp invite. Anything over 1 year and I'll be really upset with this signing.

    Okay, I can live with this now.

    You have a lot to prove Yi and it doesn't mean you have to get playing time, but I want to see you want to get better. arrive early and stay after practice.

    Was about to come post that 8 million figure. That's a heck of a lot more than the veteran's minimum.

    Does he provide veteran leadership?... I mean he gives us a stretch big, but so what?

    Maybe we're just trying to diversify our nationalities on the team. That gives us a Filipino, Chinese, Brazilian, Croatian, Spaniard, and Russian. Not bad.

    edit- for the record I don't really care. It's just another in a line of minor disappointments for our FA this summer whether we're talking personnel or contract size. I just don't understand what he brings that we can't get out of someone else on the team. I also don't understand where his minutes come from unless there's a trade brewing.
