ill never forget the name Scot Williams for that exact reason. the real reason we lost to DET.

when slava medvedenko is starting for you let alone in the finals it is not good

irks me to this day that the narrative about that season is that the 4 stars didn't work well together. uh, when they were all healthy, the lakers spanked people. malone got hurt; that's the long and short of it. had he not, the lakers win the title that year. detroit's entire defensive scheme hinged on not having to guard the pf position.

Malone got injured...was out for a spell...there was some sort of misdiagnosis...tried to come back when he wasn't fully healed...toughed it out until his knee finally gave out during The Finals. Gimped it out in Game 1 but was done prior to Game 2. Really enjoyed The Mailman's time as a Laker. He challenged O'Neal to keep up with him on the floor and on the boards. Busted Nash's nose...

Hard to let go of losses like that but I suppose that is part of being a hard core fan.

I liked Malone too. Solid rebounder and underrated defender before getting hurt. I don't know if GP got hurt, but man he was a shell of himself by the time the playoffs rolled around. I can't definitely say if it was due to Phil's schemes or GP's own performance, but he was getting torched by the likes of Troy Hudson. If Sam Cassell was healthy its possible the T-Wolves would have advanced

The triangle didn't do him any favors either.

It seemed that Payton was good for exploding for ten in the first quarter and then disappearing.

Now we just need Swaggy P gone and the disastrous past seasons players will be gone from our team forever.

This year we must get rid of Swaggy P. Next off-season Huertas, Calderon, Anthony Brown and Mozgov should be on the chopping block.

I will honestly never understand the hate Sacre got from LA fans. He was the 60th pick in the draft and we squeezed 3 years of a goon out of him. He was much better than any 60th pick had any business being (and yes I know about Isaiah Thomas, but you must realize he's an ultimate anomaly).

I'm not sad he's gone, but I wish him well.

I don't hate him at all. 60th pick and what he did give us. I can clap for that. But I'd rather give a roster spot to someone else now to give them a chance or fill Sacre's roll. I wish him the best of luck. Great person and teammate.

I don't really think Sacre got any "hate". He just wasn't that good, not his fault. He seemed like a good guy and he worked hard, he just lacked talent and athleticism.

Now some of the other characters, including coaches that have been a part of this team the last 4 years are a different story.

I've had this discussion a ton, but there's plenty of people who don't like Rob. I think a lot of it was misplaced anger, but he still got plenty of rough words from Laker fans.

He wasn't looking all that bad playing as a starter in pre-season with Nash while waiting for Howard to be able to play. Before Nash got hurt.

I think the fact he completed his contract is partial proof of tanking. However, I think it's easy to say those currently on the roster are better or have more potential.

He hung on a lot longer than many in his draft class, still has an opportunity to make a mark in this league or another, and is a millionaire. That's not a terrible version of life, and not everyone can be top 10.

A laughably bad player kept on our roster for 4 ( well 3) terrible Lakers seasons .

As fans , we weren't used to be the laughing stock of the league so a terrible player who has been there for the whole ride gets the hate .

    Same with Kelly

There you go.... too much hate. He was OK for a 3rd string center. Not a laughably bad player.

Sure ... but he got minutes over better players for some stretches during his Lakers tenure

Sacre's problem is that he is the face of a dark period in Laker history. He epitomized the mediocrity of this team.

I don't think anyone here or anywhere says Sacre is a bad person. Never heared that from anyone. He is a great cheerleader and a nice guy who never complains and knows his role. Doesn't mean one couldn't or shouldn't get pissed when he attempted some p*** fouls around the rim that resulted in 3 point plays or when he passed the ball to the opposition inbounding.
