I did see Presti building around Westbrook. No way he deals his only chip to draw fans and potential free agents. An OKC - GSW playoff meeting would make the NBA PR department weep for joy.

Interesting move... I say they'll need to revisit that at the deadline...

And we'll be waiting with Nick Young + Denver's 2017 Second Round Pick!

anymore dump candidates out there that we could use on an expiring? IF not, I'd throw 2 years 18-20mill deal to harless, with player opt on yr. 2.

I don't know - it'd be foolish for them to lose him now. They're going to cash in on him as long as they can. And from his POV - he hasn't gotten that stupid deal yet, and OKC can offer him that. If I were him, I'd be looking for a S&T.

I'm glad that this is being put out there....could've possibly save us from Jim desperation. I could definitely see Jim willing to trade anything and everything now to get Westbrook and save his head from the chopping block

I don't know what they want for those guys, but I'm not sure I want those guys anyway. McLemore has been a disappointment (could be just landing in that city), Rudy doesn't feel like the vet we need, and Koufos's ship sailed.

We dont need another Center but Kostas is a real solid center. Don't do anything extremely great, but does a ton of thing well.

Was listening to the Lakers lounge podcast on Silver Screen and Roll and both guys agreed that Mozgov is a bad move. I don't get it. I can see it not being a good move, not being a great move, being just kind of okay, but bad or terrible? I just don't see it.

easy, he's 30yrs old, we dont now if the complications from that knee cyst thing can damper him more in the future. He's never been all that impactful and at this point we still dont know if there were others who would've offered him that much money that early into FA. I believe the narrative if Deng was the 1st signing announcement followed by other teams overpay to other underwhelming players like Evan Turner types, Mozgoz deal wouldn't have gotten so much bad publicity.

The way out of the Mosgov situation will be the amnesty provision that should come after the next CBA. At least there is a way out with him. I just hope it doesnt cost the Lakers wins. This team does not have a center if he fails. I love Tarik Black but he isnt someone we can depend on night in and night out.

The rationale for acquiring Mosgov was simple. We couldn't get a meeting with Whiteside or Horford. Luke wanted Mosgov, and Mitch made it happen. Luke had just seen him up close after two straight Finals appearances. The length and salary can be debated.

From a basketball standpoint, Mosgov provides a very good pick in roll partner and among other things, he provides the 'vertical spacing' and can also collapse the defense when he rolls hard enough to the rim leaving open shooters on the weakside. It opens things up for Russell and Clarkson. He is also finishes around the basket at a good rate and his range extends out to 10' to 12' feet.

Additionally, he can provide rim protection and provide a 7' foot presence in the middle that can make an impact. We might have to run a defensive scheme to maximize his talent on that end; funneling our everything toward him (hard hedging) allowing him to just drop back in pick in roll coverages, etc

In the end, I think he is an upgrade. All IMO

This is pretty much the nail on the head. We can argue all day about the contract. Eventually we'll see how it all plays out. To stop the argument there though is a disservice to Mozgov.

He fits well with what we want to do offensively and defensively. I'd prefer if he were a better passer, but his ability to roll hard and roll effectively is going to open up everything for the team. He's good on the offensive boards and he's a decent defender. At worst he's an upgrade over Hibbert. So say what you will about the money, but his presence on the team makes us better. I think that's the most important thing for us right now.

I'd trade Nick Young&Calderon for Koufos.

Oh I like Koufos. I was advocating for him last summer, but we went with Hibbert and then Koufos signed in Sacramento as Boogie insurance. We just have no use for him at this point. We've got Mozgov, we've got Tarik, and we've got Zubac on the back burner. We just don't have any space anymore especially on his long-term salary.

We can always re-trade him at the deadline ;) when hopefully by then, Zubac is able to give us 10-15 great minutes.

In retrospect, I wish we would've signed Koufos last year. His deal looks dirt cheap in this new CBA. Only 27 years old. Put up similar numbers to Mozgov when he started in Denver a few years ago, put up better numbers than Mozgov last year as a back up.
