Well actually this was the maximum salary Black could earn with his Bird Rights. It counts overall in our salary, but not our cap so we could use the cap to go get more people. We also have somewhere between 19-23 million available and the cap is expected to jump another 13 million next summer. Lou Williams would be an expiring, Tarik Black non-guaranteed, and likely the same with Huertas. I think we could easily clear cap room if we needed to. Heck Lou plus the cap alone gets us half-way there.

I'd prefer to hand out a 2/20 million deal to someone who will take it to provide us with more depth at PG. Option on the 2nd year then you really preserve cap space. Otherwise we're just wasting room when we don't need to. The idea to is to be as competitive as possible to hopefully have an outside shot at attracting a real impact FA, why not use all the resources (cash) available?

Alright so to recap the Lakers re-signed JC and Tarik to bargain deals, filled two needs getting a starting center and a guy who can start at the 3, play small ball 4, play backup 3, and a mentor to Ingram. Still have enough for a max slot. Not bad. Not ideal, but not bad.

I was thinking more Brandon Bass or Brandon Jennings or Ramon Sessions in here for a 2/20 million dollar deal with the 2nd one a team option. If we can pull that off. Hard to tell in this market.

I would rather have Jennings backing up Russell than Huertas. Lets do it. No thank you on Sessions. I think the Gay-Love-Sessions trio will never come to fruition, therefore, Sessions would be futile.

I like Sessions. I liked him in his short stint with us and I wish he'd stayed. He ran away from the lights a bit, but now he's a few years older... what's he got to lose?

Jennings is coming off an Achilles tear. He played pretty well last season, but he's definitely lost a bit of game. He's also a questionable character guy. Another name kind of under the radar at this point is Vasquez. He also got hurt and missed a bunch of time, but he was really solid as a backup PG in Milwaukee and Toronto.

NBA media type based out of OKC. He said Durant's decision was down to OKC and GS so C bag fans were probably upset.

OKC's reporter and why what? If you're asking why they'd do that well they're idiots that's why. Royce was just doing his job. One of the few good guys at ESPN.

What kind of heathen monkeys would make fun of a reporters wife and kid because of a free agent? Really?

They're scum. Scum franchise with a scum fan base.

Who could forget when those j******es threw objects at our bus. Could've hurt someone, but did they care? No they were busy celebrating acting like they were actually there during the tough times when they were chanting MVP at Kobe the year prior. They're also so whiny. To this day they still are convinced that scrub Perkins would've made a different in Game 7 of the 2010 Finals.

You think there are no Lakers fans who would do the same? You obviously spend too much time at a quality LB site :).

Well gentleman. It's been a pleasure this evening. I will see you in the morning where I hope Durant confirms his flight to Oakland and the door of Westbrook will be open to coming to LA in exactly 1 year from today! Happy 4th of July, ya'll!

It's petty of them to play hypotheticals and harp on that Perkins injury like it might've made a difference ...

But I guarantee that if we had a healthy Ariza and Bynum in 08 instead of having to play Radmanovic and Luke (bless his heart) at the 3 spot against Pierce in his prime, we would've had another three-peat on our record books.

So.. Is Huertas our backup PG, or do we go after Sessions or Jennings..?

Not sure I have a preference.
