Off topic but here's a comment on FB. "We need a floor leader, let's trade Russell for Rubio."

Now sign Jarret Jack to play the Shaun Livingston role and call it a day. I would invite Jahbri Brown for training camp give him another chance.

As much as I love Kobe, we have upgraded our SF position greatly this offseason. That alone is huge for this team. It is also going to be huge that we have bigs in Mozgov and Black who can actually be effective in rolling to the basket. Hibbert was terrible.

It's because the media has already set the narrative. We overpaid in a huge way (false, but it's the narrative) for Mozgov and so now we're the "desperate" team. A move like this will be called "desperate" by the idiot fans who don't know what they're talking about and parroted by ESPN because hating the Lakers means ratings. Moves like Evan Turner for 70 million or Bazemore for 70 million are fine, but moves like 64 for Mozgov and 72 for Deng are bad. That's just what stupid people will say. People who know what they're talking about (David Aldridge, Luke Walton, and Woj) all like our moves so far. We're not contenders, but we're definitely building our culture in a positive way.

I stay away from stupid fans and stupid people. All they can do is bring you down with them. LB is where to be for intelligent Laker discussion.

Doubt that happens. Jarret is not exactly a fan of D'Angelo.

I haven't exactly seen it except from reading some of the posts here, but we have an option on the Mozgov contract? If so, his contract makes even more sense. When you put options in contracts, you are going to have to overpay in the other years. Raiders have done it for years. We did it with Jordan Hill years ago too.

You know Mozgov would've been here for at least 2 years regardless, that means if he is horrible we only would have to eat 1 year of his contract before terminating it. Plus the way the cap has risen, in a year or two his numbers will look like nothing compared to other deals.

Hasn't been confirmed yet, but Woj said it was an option on the last year on his FA show Thursday night. We won't know for sure until the contract is actually signed.

    How much is left $23-$25MM?

If so, I can see the Lakers stand pat for a bit to assess the landscape for opportunistic acquisitions ... maybe dumps like Doc Brown has talked about.

Also, with Deng coming onboard, I'm positive the Lakers FO did not want anything to do with Whiteside. The Lakers are acquiring guys like Moz and Deng to teach the youngsters what it means to be an NBA pro. The Lakers cannot have a locker room cancer or someone who is a bad influence on the kiddos.

And for that reason, I think Swaggy's days are numbered.

I have been saying it for 2 days. Need unselfish, professional vets who will undoubtedly accelerate the kids' development and give us good (but limited) minutes on the floor? Wade, Deng, and Gasol (we could even retire Pau's jersey). Need to give Young away with a 2nd and cash or something. Give Wade 4 years 80 million (last a team option). Wade, Deng, and Gasol can help us recruit later.

Wade's wife would love LA, no? Would be a tough "suck it" to Riley and the Heat. But 80 MILLION is 80 MILLION

DAR, Clarkson, Vet Min (Wade could play minutes here too)
Wade, Lou (Clarkson some, of course, even BI and Brown)
Deng, BI, Brown (some Wade too)
JR, Gasol, Nance (some Deng and BI)
    Moz, (Gasol) Black

Gasol off the bench with starting maybe 20 games this season?? Would he? Doubt it.

This line-up -- Wade, Ingram, Deng, JR, Gasol would be fun. Ingram and JR would thrive.

I'd LOVE to have Pau back. Let him have the going out party that he deserves. Plus, Pau can still ball! His skillset translates to playing another 2/3 years as does Deng's.

I'd make a run at Courtney Lee now to finish off the backcourt and bring back Huertas.

I'd also make a Ryan Anderson run if not for anything, but asset accumulation.

I think now we just sign 1+1 deals to retain some flexibility next year.

They're trying to get Horford to show Durant they can put talent around him. Thomas/Horford/Durant in the East is probably a 2 seed.

So we have 11 players under contract.
(If we stretch Young, 10 players)

    D'Angelo - ?
    Clarkson - Lou - ?
    Deng - Ingram - A.Brown - Young*
    Julius - Nance - ?
    Mozgov - Zubac - ?

    We need probably need:
2 more bigs - Black or Bass, and a 1+1 deal
    2 more guards - Huertas, and a 1+1 deal

So how much do we pay Black/Bass?
And how much do we pay Huertas?
