I don't know man. It's got to be tough for Luke. He has to develop these kids and he can't have any trust in the front office right now with the way things are going.

Hypothetically: we offer Parsons the max and he takes.
Does Whiteside reconsider? Is it worth it?

agreed. Why would TOR spend a ton of money bringing him back when they have Jonas still and drafted a quality C too.

The FO hired him and he's known these people for years. We as fans might not support them, but they'll give nothing but support to Luke. Besides, he signed on knowing what the deal was. He's got the kids to count on and that's it. Anything beyond that was not a given. He seemed excited about the kids so I think he'll be fine. Nobody is expecting much out of him.

For goodness sake it's better than nothing. :D :D

At least now when Mitch and Jim are sitting alone in the office they'll have something to look forward to.

That's going to have to be the mantra, isn't it?

On the bright side tickets will be cheaper than ever probably.

Don't like that hypothetical. I think maxing Whiteside is risk enough. The Lakers shouldn't also have to max an injury prone sidekick to get Whiteside.

Remember how the media always blamed Kobe for free agents not coming to LA (even though we didn't have money, and free agents came at a discount)?

Now look at what happens without Kobe. Who are they going to blame? We can't get s***.

They are in desperate need of a big man and will talk to Miami’s Hassan Whiteside and Atlanta’s Al Horford.

Whiteside, 27, averaged a league-high 3.68 blocks per game last season. He’s similar to the ClippersDeAndre Jordan, whom the Lakers unsuccessfully pursued last summer — strong rebounding skills (11.8 a game) but somewhat limited on offense and a poor free-throw shooter (59.8% career).

Whiteside was a 2010 second-round pick who barely played for two years in Sacramento before appearing to wash out of the league. After bouncing around the NBA’s Development League and playing overseas, he signed with Miami in 2014 and created a name for himself on defense.

I guess the Whiteside stuff needs to be disregarded. More tidbits in the piece on potential options, though

I didn't even really want Batum, but now we gotta get somebody. We just have too. Just to show the young kids how to play if anything else and show us all that free agents still wanna play here.

At least we got meetings when Kobe was here...now we have to celebrate phone calls with Batum.

Still holding out hope that Charlotte is reluctant to offer Batum the max. Only other team I've read was going to meet with him was Dallas, but if they're busy waiting on Whiteside, maybe we could swoop in.

I'll really take any of the "big names" at this point. Even the ones I previously might've been against due to lack of fit, injury history, feeling they might not be that good (Conley, Parsons, Barnes).

I feel blasphemous for saying this ... but can we get a meeting with Dwight? He might be as desperate as our front office this summer.
