Well, the Ding article seemed to believed by many in this site as leaked inside info from Jeannie. The reports on KD, different sources revealing a common core of teams he will meet with. Could it all be b.s.? Yep. But haven't seen anything about KD wanting to talk with the Lakers or even his agent refute reports that he doesn't. So what else can we discuss on this topic?

The "mistakes" they made led them to have the opportunity to get young potential stars. If Ingram turns in to Durant 2.0, no one will complain about the 3 year hell the Lakers were in.

I believe the Lakers go the top 2 players in all 3 of the drafts. I agree with you on Randle being the 2nd of 3rd in his draft class. I think he could be the 2nd best in that class when it is all said and done because Jabari Parker will never live up to his full potential with the knee injury he had.

See, again, not a Jim defender, but I don't get why anything we do that's bad or looks desperate is "Jim". Why is it not the "front office"? Mitch, Ryan West, Jesse, these guys aren't also in on this whole process? I don't see Jim and Mitch at the very least, can be separated when talking about trying to get meetings with the top free agents. We don't think Mitch wants Durant too? Come on now.

guys like cuban and morey are claiming the players aren't going to get the salaries they expect. we'll see who's the smartest guy in the room soon...i'm guessing not them. baze will get 15, parsons will get max, etc. it's happening.

Hopefully we don't max guys who doesn't deserve it. Sirron's Jim meme is killing my confidence we will do anything this coming FA period.

I agree in part. I think Jim is something of a scapegoat for the whole FO and really, Mitch should be taking as much flak as everyone else. He probably just gets a pass since he presumably earned his position with the Lakers and didn't have it handed to him by a rich father while he was busy breeding horses and failing at everything else he touched. Maybe Mitch also gets a pass because people assume he's the good German following Jim's orders and trying not to rustle any of his boss' feathers. But yeah, I'd just as soon get rid of Mitch too at this point and start fresh with a new GM.

Where I disagree is with Ryan West and Jesse Buss. My understanding is that these guys are more or less in charge of scouting and this is one area where I have zero complaints with our FO. I think we have drafted really smartly these last few years.

FWIW, we could totally flop this offseason and I'd still be satisfied if Coward went to the C Bags.

Durant will sign that 1+1 anyways. He'll wait to see what Melo, Cp2 and Bron are up to. Book it

We've already got our KD, and he's 20 million dollars a year cheaper. Time is on our side. image.jpeg

Listening to Sources Broussard on ESPN saying that it is likely the Lakers could strike out on all the free agents. Sounds like the only possibility is to max Barnes or max an immature Whiteside. Made a good point for why each free agent in the list would likely stay where they are or go elsewhere. Also confirms that the impression of Jimmie in that Ding article is shared by the league.

Not really. He took the meeting so obviously he wanted to hear what we had to sell. The reality is we have nothing to sell him so the pitch was stupid and based on money instead of basketball. What did he expect? I don't know. I don't see the desperation.

If the ONLY possibility of snagging free agents was to max Barnes/Whiteside, I think we would have an excellent offseason.

It's kind of funny that almost EVERY team that's in our position will likely strike out on the top names as most big names don't move, but hey lets pound the Lakers into the ground because it's fun!!!

If we get Whiteside I'd be ecstatic.
