Zach Lowe: I had heard they (Pelicans) wanted not just a pick, but they wanted, because they're determined to stay afloat, that they wanted at least another good present day rotation player.

Marc Stein: Yeah, I think they took their cues from teams like the Suns who were saying, 'Markieff Morris, uncertain future, cause nothing but trouble since July, yeah well we want a first and a good young guy for him.' So I think they (Pelicans) said, 'well that's the asking price for Markieff Morris let's ask for for the same.' But yeah, I'm totally with you. If Toronto had really put that on the table Ryan Anderson would be having a press conference in Toronto today. There's no way that offer was available to the Pelicans or they would have snatched it.

Because Ryan Anderson is going to get crazy money this offseason. He is going to 4/$80M for Ryan Anderson is not out of the realm of possibility. Maybe it's 4/$75M, but it's gonna be in that ballpark. It is. Has he lost a suitor in Detroit that we all thought was going to go after him after they got Tobias Harris and Motiejunas? I would assume that takes the Pistons out of the Ryan Anderson sweepstakes but there will be plenty of teams after him. He's gonna get a ton of money.

Dallas wants Conley and Whiteside. The road just got a little easier for Dallas to snatch him up...

Hmmm... I wonder if his source "I'm told that" is the same as my source "People are saying" because we came up with the same list of free agents the Lakers are interested in.

Why not just go after Jon Leuer? He'll make less money, stretches the floor, and can play both the 4 and the 5?

I'm gonna temper my expectations now that Ding has ruined our already slim chances to snag good FAs.

Let's welcome Amare Stoudamire at center, finally, 2007 plan in full effect! Ty Lawson, because you need to be drunk to sign a contract to this mess.

Why pay for a injury prone PF? Lets get horford or whiteside. We need a center.

Was listening to a podcast on Silver Screen and Roll. They brought up a good point that free agents probably know all of this stuff meaning it won't have much impact on these free agents. Everyone knew there was tension there and has been for quite some time.

A guy like Whiteside is looking to get paid so it won't have any impact on him whatsoever. Guys like Horford and Durant aren't coming anyway. The rest of the guys we sign would be veteran leaders who are merely contributors not huge impact guys.

Chris "Sources" Broussard says we've been officially ruled out of meetings with Durant.

I'm happy about it. Let's move on with our lives.

I would think that it does still have an impact on these FAs. To me, the story just doesn't change their mind/view on them signing here. If this all is truly the case then these FAs were never really going to come here for those reasons, it is just now in the public eye.

You know when I stay up all night 'til the wee hours of the morning for news of who we sign or trade and end up disappointed.

In the end, let's just improve from where we have been; there are some very quality FA's out there that we have talked about. We've had a fantastic off-season, and I would say we'd be excited over anybody we acquire if they can help our team.

I'm really not concerned with the effect Ding's article will have on FA. He said he worked on the article for months and it's really nothing new. Everybody knew our FO has been dysfunctional. I would have to assume that the FO is aware of this perception and will go out of their way to dispel that notion to their targets. The fact remains we have a great young core, a new up and coming coach that is highly respected by players, and a ton of money to throw around.
