If teams are going to max out dudes like Noah, that means there will be tons of money for multiple quality FAs. I think that if you have one slot, you max out a second nor third tier dude. We have two. We should go all in aggressively with one slot and hold back on the other.

I disagree. We don't HAVE to do all that much just because we have money. We are better off positioning ourselves to make a big score or 2 next summer. This is not a great FA summer and we need time to sort out our youth and let Luke and crew get their feet wet. I think we need one major pickup like a Whiteside and possibly work out a trade before the Feb deadline for another great player even using some youth if we have to. If we go into next summer with 2 star players like that, then we can attract a big FA and maybe some other vets on mins. Suddenly you have a big 2 or 3 and vets to back as well as a nice mix of youth. No need to impulse buy this summer.

Considering LBJ, Durant, DeRozan are all not likely to move the '17 FA market looks waaaay better, just look at a list of unrestricted FAs in '17.

...at the gym today, saw on the telly [local ABC station] report that the Lakers will be "aggressively" pursuing Whiteside. So there ya is...

i don't think the FA class is really much better next year, so yes, i would hope to nab at least one medium-sized fish this offseason, preferably two or three. one big fish would work, too, of course.

Durant and Westbrook will likely be on the market next season. That makes it better and clearly better. You have to legit superstars as opposed to just one this year. Steph, Griffin, and Paul will also be available. Again all elite level players in this league. The second tier guys are better as well with guys like Lowry, Hayward, Milsap and Derrick Rose.

And I'd rather have him along with two other 2nd and 3rd tier free agents than DeRozen

Is Biyumbo likely getting a max contract? Not really comfortable with that for a guy who only seemed to make an impact in the games played in Toronto.

Yes, I believe he will get max dollars. He had a good season and a good PO's, IMO. He was inconsistent during the Toronto series, but looking at the complete picture, I thought he faired well.

His +/- was far better at home. All his other starts were pretty even. His ortg and drtg were both better on the road.

Biyumbo didn't make the same impact. Not saying he was terrible, but it was pretty clear he was better at home. I'm not just not okay with giving him that much money for a guy who is at best a marginal starting center. Best case for him is being a very solid backup. I'd rather go for Whiteside, Horford, or Noah even.

That's what I keep thinking. Miami is getting old. They had their run. Plus Bosh is a huge question mark and may be done due to health. L.A. should look way more attractive objectively. Has to. I'm feeling good about free agency in general. Luke across the table will really help sell the Lakers experience.
