Yeah, I don't think that would be difficult to put together. Ron Adams (very highly regard assistant) would be great. I don't think he's leaving GS, though. From what I've been hearing, though, Blatt is an X's and O's stud according to GT, and even @Doc Brown has made a great argument for him. Before he even took the head coaching job in Cleveland, he was going to be taking an 'Associated Head Coaching' role in GS. Larry Lewis (keep him), Brian Shaw, Lawrence Frank (suggested by someone at LG), etc.

EDIT. Sorry ROFY. You were referring to what you were hearing about Blatt being Xs and Os stud, not Luke likely not leaving. Punctuation is my friend. Punctuation is my ..... :p

^That's a breath of fresh air listening to him rather than Byron. Boy, if Messina is hired, I still feel pretty darn good.

    My list would include:

    1) Messina (Respectable experience + Spurs culture)
    2) Luke (Young & respectable with high IQ)

    Others:

Van Gundy (Knows the game, more so the defensive end to be exact)
Ollie (Only if Durant hand picks him)

Yeah I have never really heard him speak before. Think now 4 years later after being with Pop. We would be in good hands and I would be excited secondly for him if it's not Luke. Plus I like his face better than Blatt's. :p

    Your point makes no sense.
Phil had 6 rings as a head coach, Luke has one as an assistant
Messina isn't just a Spurs assistant, he's a 4x Euro League champion and 2x coach of the year

Yeah but can you imagine 12AM on first FA day this guy getting a call with that unmistakable voice of Luke saying, "Demar .... Come back home. I did and we're putting something brand new together here. I'd love to have you back in LA on the Lakers with me to help make that possible."

    "Luke, I'm there homey!!" :Headbang:

Same here, hadn`t really heard him speak before. SUCH a breath a fresh air. I really want Luke as a 1st choice, because LUUUUKE! But if not Luke, I would love to have Messina. I also dislike Blatt`s face.

Doug Collins? As an assistant? Absolutely. A head coach? God no!

I hope to eff it is their plan these are all fallback options. If they offer to Luke in first meeting and he says, "Yes" ..... they stop right there and politely thank everybody else for their interest. Or as JSM says maybe for bleeps and giggles test the waters to see if any of these 1st tier options are open to considering assistant positions. Don't waste everyone's time. If not then same with Messina if he says, "Yes" after it's offered. Because that's the only two I care about.:p

    Doug Collins?

Oh god no. I can't imagine having to listen to a Doug Collins press conference. Hearing Doug Collins talk about anything basketball related is as fun as getting a root canal with no anesthesia.

I don't want mister "I coached Jordan" anywhere near the Lakers in any capacity.

Arrggghhhh!!! Dagger to my stomach. Haven't read yet but hate the title. [IMG]

    http://www.silverscreenandroll.com/...ing-rumors-luke-walton-bill-walton-lute-olson

Well read it and of course Bill is not wrong in what he is saying. Only quote from him that doesn't make this sound so bad is this below, and Luke DOES have that home in Manhattan Beach and he would have many more millions of dollars immediately going forward.

Lakers fans panicking that Walton's father has already talked him out of the job probably shouldn't lose too much sleep over these comments, however, because Bill isn't so certain luke will take his advice.

"With all that being said... Did you listen to your dad?"

edit: in this Mychal Thompson talks about what the Warriors have told HIM and what Klay had to say about Luke.

    Spoiler: they love him.

I'm not voting because I'm fine with any of the top 3 choices.

Doug Collins wouldn't be a horrible choice. Reason being, he'd be the Mark Jackson developing the players and culture before we bring in the Steve Kerr to win a title.

It's a process and right now, we're crawling.
