I think Swaggy will be traded at the deadline. I expect him & Lou to come off the bench when Hibbert sits & we'll run more uptempo for them. They're going to light second units up.

Report: With no trade market for him, Lakers to keep Nick Young (for now)

The Lakers shopped Nick Young around. Starting at the draft and through free agency, as they tried to reshape their roster Young was made available to anyone and everyone.

He’s still a Laker, and it’s going to stay that way for a while, reports Bill Oram of the Orange County Register.

Young is the quintessential NBA gunner, a volume shooter who averaged 13.4 points a game last season but shot 36.6 percent to get there. He is out there having fun, is not taking anything too seriously, and that has rubbed Kobe Bryant and Byron Scott the wrong way at times.

Scott said he wants to see Young work on his decision making, off-the-ball movement and off-ball defense this summer. If he does that he can be a core player for the Lakers, GM Mitch Kupchak added. But the Lakers have so much faith that is going to happen they went out and signed Lou Williams to play the same role.

Young is only making $5.2 million next season (with two season at that price after it), but coming off a knee injury that cost him half the season last year teams were not going to take the risk. That could change as things move into the season, as teams see how their rosters blend.

But for now, Young is a Laker.

Maybe trade options open up with injuries and what not as the season progresses. No one wants the players we've been trying to trade the past couple years. Pau, Jordan Hill, Nick Young...

I was thinking...I don't know if Russell will get the starting nod. I wouldn't be surprised if Swaggy starts some games with Clarkson and Kobe.

Definitely not enough ball for that squad but we'd have the same issue with D'Angelo starting. More importantly as of today Russell is not ready to run an NBA offense. I can see Swaggy coming out with the starters and and finishing the game with them.

Nonetheless there is not enough ball for half of our players. All of these guys need the ball in their hands:

Kobe, Clarkson, Swaggy, Lou, Russell, Randle

Let it ride, Nick. If we're running that crappy, outdated Princeton, just them fly Swaggy!!!

Trading or even buying him out would be a good thing. He's a Rookie mentally and the example of a guy still making millions while not caring isn't that conducive to growing a very young team.

I'm fine with him staying for now. He isn't really expensive considering what other role players are getting right now.

But Kelly and Sacre need to go....NOW.

If Young comes to camp with his me 1st attitude he's going to be froze out by this roster. I don't see Kobe and Scott putting up with any crap, any mental mistakes, any quick, bad shots. These young guys want his PT, he wants their PT, I see trouble brewing and a inevitable trade after camp, and it will be more of a dump than a trade. No way they get Gibson as that lone tweet by Adamle suggests.
