The pass rushing crop is starting to thin a tad with Houston and JPP getting tagged. Hardy is a massive question mark with a suspension looming. Everything I've read suggests the Bills will not let Jerry Hughes leave under any condition. That leaves Pernell McPhee, Jason Worilds, and Brandon Graham. That or break the bank for Suh. Suh's the only game changer out of those guys and really fits what Quinn is wanting to do. There's only 1 Suh though and teams like the Raiders and Jags have way too much cap space. Either way, I think Atlanta will have to overpay. At this point, I'm fine with that and I'll take anyone. Metta World Peace would be a better pass rusher than anyone the Falcons had last year.
He wants more than JJ's $100m deal. Most anticipate something in the ballpark of $115-125m over 7 years with up to $70m in guaranteed cash. So depending on the structure of the deal, incentives, etc. that would average out to $17m a year and change.
Ugh! PFT says Skins and falcons are the leading suitors for Orakpo. Falcons have enough injury prone players on their team as it is. If it's a cheap deal, I'm all for it. But do not overpay and this better not be the only FA pass rusher they plan to get. If he was a 3rd addition (top tier FA, 8th pick, + him ) to address the pass rush, I'm fine with that.
Whoa...Bills landed Shady McCoy. I thought he might not stay in Philly because his role lessened significantly. But I didn't see THAT coming. Wonder what Philly does for a RB now. And his fantasy value just shot up.
Honestly I think Philly wins that trade. They save some money to put in another asset (Maclin maybe?), get a young stud LB, and they didn't lose a ton of production. Shady was a poor fit for Oregon. Oh I mean Philly. I'm not sure I like Kelly's plan to just go rebuild his Oregon team in the pros. In fact I kind of hate it.
The rumors I've read say he's looking for $11-12m a year. I'm a big fan of Cobb, he was a fantasy stud for me a couple years ago. But is a slot receiver worth that much?
I don't know, JSM, but statistically he was the best WR in the league according to Pro Football Focus. He wouldn't have Rodgers throwing to him, but he could be a difference-maker in the passing game. It could be a huge add for Oakland - giving Latavius some space to run. I'm torn. $11M is a lot of money.
^If they plan on offering that much paper to Cobb...then the Raiders could plan on drafting a lineman either O or D. Need a safety, a middle linebacker and another corner.
Defense. I want Fowler Jr. He and Mack would be unstoppable. The Raiders need to spend like $50M; right? They can afford to overpay for one or two players. I do hope they're smart, mind you, but I don't mind Cobb.
The Raiders are like the Lakers to me: go find talent and worry about what position they play later besides maybe QB and RB. Just get the best talent at whatever position you can find in the draft. They need O-Line help, D-Line help, help in the secondary, and more options on the perimeter. Cobb is a good start if they throw the cash at him.
Bears shopping Marshall for a mid-round pick. Hate to tell them but receiver isn't their problem on offense, it's QB.
I don't think he'll end up in Oakland. Suh wants to play for a contender and the Raiders are at least a year away. They might be competitive next season. Florida = no state tax.
Suh can change a D and will be the best player on D wherever he goes. That can't be said of Cobb. Cobb won't be the face of the offense and won't change the culture. Read a rumor today that suggested the Colts were one of the leading candidates and wanted to pair Suh and Hardy together. That's just not fair. If Hardy's suspension isn't bad, that will throw them into the list as one of the favorites for the super bowl.
Biggest winners of the BMarsh trade -- Jeffery and Decker. Should boost Forte's value as a receiver too. Wonder what they do for a #2 WR though. Draft?
Reggie Wayne out of Indy... He'll probably hang it up. Da Bears believed to be shopping Cutler. Murray might not be a Cowboy. Looks like a loads of movement when the free agency period begins.
