NBA Season Part 2: Life In The Orlando Bubble

Makes you wonder how many people actually have it and are just asymptomatic. It's probably a lot more widespread already than most realize.

 

Dang if all these players have it half of us probably have it and don't even know it.

 

Right. So the advice I heard is don’t act as if you’re trying to avoid the virus yourself. Act as if you already have it and are trying to avoid spreading it.

So even if you’re young and think it’s okay to go to a spring break party, yeah you might spread it to another young healthy person who might similarly be asymptomatic. But then they might go home and spread it to their parent who might die.

LA county has now told everyone to shelter in place. Only leave the house for groceries, medical needs, essential business.

 

I've been home for 4 days in a row without leaving. Can do this for a few days more but will continually run out of fruit and veggies. Have enough frozen meats to last a month, enough water for a month and enough toilet paper for a month. Which is a lot because I'm Irish and I'm fat!!!!



Not really but it's a good story and I'm sticking to it.

This is a collective effort. Those who are outside thinking it's a good time to hang out with friends and families are putting everyone at risk. Our ancestors were drafted to war... All we are asked to do is stay home. I was driving to Costco the other day and saw some kids playing basketball as well as parents taking their children out to play in the park. This virus will only multiply and get worse. The best course of action is for everyone to stock up on food.

Sling is offering some free entertainment for U.S. individuals. Now would be a good time to work on any side hustles, etc., This could last another month, easily.

Good points, but I would caution that you don’t need to stock up on food right this moment. The supply of food and other goods is fine, stores just can’t stock the shelves fast enough to keep up with the demand with so many hoarders. So we’re not permanently running out of anything, and through any lockdowns grocery stores will remain open.

So I think you’re more likely to catch something if you rush to the grocery store now while it’s super crowded with everyone reacting to the lockdown news. If you can manage it, I say wait a week or two. All the hoarders will have hoarded. Everyone else will have settled into their lockdown routines and already have what they need. Grocery stores will be better stocked and less crowded.

 

the key here is to have enough to get though the next 2 to 4 weeks. I think we are set, might have to go out in a couple of weeks to pick up fresh fruit/veggies. But the key is to not go out for every little thing you need, get a list, do your best to fill it, or replace the items with something else you can find. I think I am hunkering down and waiting a couple of weeks at least to see what happens.

 

Ideally, some of these people would go on a permanent spring break so we could just quarantine the beaches for the next year and let them all infect each other while keeping the rest of us safe.

 

It's not about running out but more-so not putting anyone at risk of getting infected via less encounters. If I can buy what I need and not have to come out every other day or week, it's far more effective from a safety standpoint. Plus, it makes absolutely no sense to wait in long lines multiple times during the week to purchase groceries. I buy enough for 2-3 weeks.

 

Oh, yes absolutely. Sorry if I was unclear. When you do go shopping, buy enough to last for a few weeks if you can for that exact reason. That’s how I typically buy groceries anyways.

I’m just saying that if you already have enough groceries for the next few weeks, then there is no need to go out to Costco tomorrow and wait in a line of hundreds of people to buy months worth of supplies. This isn’t the end of the world.

 

I wasn't allowed in a grocery store today in the Philippines unless I had a face mask on.

But I needed to go inside to buy one.

Luckily found a vendor outside selling some, obviously freshly sewn.

Most shops are closed for the next month now, with only essential services remaining open. When this hits hard in the US, I think it will get very interesting.
