just imagine if we picked up jimmy butler or kemba walker instead of holding out for kawhi, only to get burned at the eleventh hour... that was a painful lesson, indeed, and we got played like a fiddle. obviously it's in the past and we are faring pretty well, but it's hard not to dream about what could have been if we simply told kawhi that he wasn't Laker material and moved on accordingly.

well, proof will be next game, right? the point of moving paul was that he gets hurt and wears down every year now. and he's looked creaky at times during this series (particularly the first couple games). houston moved him a) to appease their lazy, gutless star by removing an actual leader, and b) to extend said star's window of contention.

but if paul can knock them out in round 1, their theory gets something of a death blow, i'd say. if they win with paul dragging a leg, i think they get to say they made the right move. i suppose a game in which paul is great and okc still loses would leave things unsettled.

Butler to Mia was in the works as soon as FA started

Any time you have a chance to get one of the top 3 players in the league, you'd be remiss not to follow that opportunity. Yes, in the end Kawhi burned us, but I still think you have to take that chance. As Khmrp said, Butler was gone quickly and I don't think we had a chance to get him regardless of timing. Cunning old Riley.

OKC winning = Mike Dan Tony getting fired. Houston losing again. Harden not being recognized due to not advancing in the playoffs.

I’m OK with all of these things. go OKC!

    3-point shooting numbers
    Game 1: Denver 54%, Utah 34%
    Game 2: Denver 48%, Utah 45%
    Game 3: Denver 32%, Utah 49%
    Game 4: Denver 39%, Utah 48%
    Game 5: Denver 46%, Utah 47%
    Game 6: Denver 50%, Utah 50%
If Lakers shoot like that they will sweep remaining games.

I think I remember reading at the time that Butler wanted his own team rather than being Robin to LeBron's Batman.

There are a lot of players we could have signed instead of holding out for Kawhi (I think of Seth Curry), but I tend to think Jimmy Butler wasn't one of those players.

yeah, kemba to bos and butler to mia were basically pre-negotiated (go nba!). so the lakers went all in on kawhi because...danny green was probably the next best FA on the market. it wasn't a great market.

Toronto is in big trouble. I don't think they can come back.

TOR is obviously in trouble but coming back seems a lot more doable in the bubble where there's no HCA.

lol, s***ty luck marcus smart going prime ray allen on you in the 4th. did lowry look ok? when i heard he was hobbled, i figured they were in trouble. he's super important to their success, imo.

but yeah, the no HCA thing is weird. and toronto is as good as boston. must get that third one, though.

I just took a quick glance at the box scores for 2019-2020 and it seems that Kawhi+Lue score about the same against both teams.

Denver wins. Let's see what they can do against the Clippers.
