My problem with the trailer is it looks soooo generic. It's just a bunch of random shots of her jumping and ducking (almost like they were trying to recreate levels in the game.
They absolutely are trying to recreate the game. A common complaint I’ve read over and over is the dialogue is bad, and the main one I agree with is the stakes are unnecessarily raised to world saving. There’s a line in the trailer that says something like “the fate of humanity is in your hands”, and that’s silly for a video game adaptation. Hell, Indiana Jones only saved the world like 1 out of the 4 times, and I wouldn’t even say that was his goal, he was a treasure hunter. Tomb Raider is not Indiana Jones. To me it’s not even Uncharted, and Drake isn’t saving the world either, he’s treasure hunting and having self-contained adventures. I think if they’d have stuck to the game in that way, it’s own little adventure and not some grand world saving mission, the movie probably looks better.
Yeah Angelina was the perfect Lara Croft in my opinion. But I think that is always because I grew up with that so, naturally I think its a little better. Nostalgic feeling...
I have yet to watch it, but bought the BluRay Box set that is rated the absolute best bluray you can buy (movie itself, audio, video, and supplements). I need to sit down and watch it one day.
It's a good movie, and in 1982 it was way ahead of it's time. My wife had never seen it until last night. She kind of hated it.
Blade Runner is one of my top 5 SciFi movies of all time. Hearing that this new one is even better. I'm geeked.
That looks out of my price range. Not sure what's in that lock box, but mine has like 3 or 4 versions of the movie with all the supplements (making of featurette, interviews, etc).
Looks to be the same box set as what's out...just without the swag (as they call it nowadays). Bought one eons ago when there was a close-out on it. Now a 4K version is out which according to reviews is even better.
IT was interesting. I had never seen the original but heard so much buzz around this one. I went in expecting to be legitimately scared and I was disappointed in that sense. Honestly couldn't help to laugh during a lot of the scenes that were supposed to be scary. So that was both the problem and the success of the movie. It was actually really funny and even a little heart-warming in some regards. I wanna go back and watch it again after adjusting my expectations. Pennywise was awesome, but I wished he was on screen more and allowed to be more menacing though. In the beginning scene, I was legit creeped out but after that it seemed like he was just trolling the kids.
Not sure what to think about that mustache Boyega is trying to grow. Commit to it. It looks almost like it's a shadow at first, but he didn't have that in Force Awakens, so I think it's hair. This movie will miss Elba. But as much as I like Sons of Anarchy, Boyega is a definite upgrade over Charlie Hunnam.
Anyone watch the new Kingsman? The first one was surprisingly very good but been hearing mix reviews with this one.
I just saw The Mountain Between Us. Only got a 5.8 on IMDB, but I thought it was outstanding. Without giving away too much, you can see it's a survival movie. Never seemed unrealistic. I'd give it a solid 3 out of 4 stars. Definitely worth checking out.
Just saw Blade Runner 2049. It was so good on so many levels. My only complaint is that there was a bit too much narrative. I would imagine they were concerned that too many people would be lost without it. Other than that: Story = excellent Visuals = better than excellent Casting / Acting = excellent (Ryan Gosling was so much better than I imagined he could be in the role) Dialogue = excellent Overall = 9.5 out of 10
Can't wait to see it this weekend. Couldn't this last weekend as I was on babysitting duty with the nieces for 3 days. But I'm dragging the wife to it this weekend.
I saw it, and I liked it. It's a little like Kick-a** 2 in that the newness and freshness of the first one couldn't be replicated, but it still was an enjoyable movie. If the first Kingsman was a 8-8.5 out of 10, this is a 6.5 or so out of ten. It just doesn't have the originality of the first one because, well, it's a sequel. BUt it's still a fun, well-done movie.
