I saw hidden figures yesterday. Really really good movie.

I thought Kevin Costner and Janelle Monáe were especially good in it. The star Taraji P. Henson might have been the worst one in it, but she didn't ruin it because even though I didn't like her acting, I thought her character was likable enough that you still rooted for her. The fact that it's based on real women and their contribution to NASA is amazing.

Life is Beautiful. #26 on IMDB Top 250. 8.6 rating.

I'm not giving the movie away or even describing it. Just trust me, you need to watch it. Be careful how you rent / buy it, as it's a foreign language, but they have English versions, as well as subtitles in several languages. Several people bought from Amazon and ended up with just the foreign language version and gave it bad reviews (Amazon, not the movie). So be careful.

The Founder. About Ray Kroc and "his" McDonald's franchise. I'll just say this without ruining the movie: he was an a******.

OK flick... It's still action genre but there was a likeable human interest story woven in. Did not leave me cold like the Bourne installment did... C+

I saw the last Bourne in the theater about 3 months ago. Have not thought about it once until you mentioned it. That forgettable.

Just in time for the sequel which they're making now. Most of us have been waiting forever, but it'll be a short wait for you.

I was afraid it would a be another Hooray America movie, and it was far from it. At 1st I was confused why they were spending time on what seemed to be minor characters, but it all payed off. I didn't follow the event closely but upon doing further research, it was pretty faithful.

    I watched Split.

It wasn't bad at all. McAvoy is a good actor and really carries a lot of the movie with his creepiness. They go in a direction I wasn't entirely expecting.

I saw La La Land tonight. It was pretty good, but I don't get the Golden Globes domination and Oscar hype. The musical numbers and the style of it were very cool, it really shined whenever music was playing or a musical number was going on, but the stuff in between was basic romantic comedy stuff, and at times downright boring. There's a huge lull in the middle and it is very long for this type of movie at over 2 hours. I saw Jackie a week ago or so and thought that was a much better film.

What makes a film a classic? Doing the obverse of everything that I am seeing in this Ghostbusters reboot. The original committed you to the film and the lead actors within 5 minutes. Slick pacing and charismatic characters. Using the name of the original is a travesty. It's like watching a film from a parallel universe where life evolved from dish water. My expectations were low, the director managed to tunnel under them with a multi-million subterranean turkey.

Well then. I guess you are just a misogynistic pig then. Why do you hate women so much? Because no one can hate this pile of dog dung covered in rat diarrhea for any other reason than the fact that it's a gender swap. In fact, if you don't like this version MORE than the original, you are clearly sexist. Heck, you probably hate puppies too.

(Just to be clear, I'm totally messing with you. I started watching it and couldn't get through the first 45 minutes.)

Lol, yeah I caught on. I hate that those with an agenda (agender?) turned this into the litmus test for sexism. I never liked Ghostbusters 2, with the original cast either but it is so long ago since I saw it and it was their car to crash. I don't think their oestrogen levels were any higher when they made it.

I like the Mad Max fury road (of course the female characters would be "jaded" after being breeding stock for a ghoulish creep) film, and the protagonists in the latest Star War films.

My theory is if you do a job well people will appreciate you. So the Jackie Robinsons, Bill Russells and Joe Louis' the Williams sisters, Tiger Woods (can I still use him for an example?) the President Obamas will find a way despite prejudice.

The film just wasn't good and there was probably more men responsible for this car crash then women (male director). If you are going to get behind something, do it because it is quality. Don't comment on the thread count or tailoring of the Emperor's new clothing. It just makes it harder for the next people. Also I guess the idea was could an all (or mainly) female cast carry a traditional popcorn movie block buster? My answer is yes, but not with a bad script. I would say pick your favorite actor, give them a bad movie, watch it. Did you enjoy it. My favorite actor is Jack Nicholson (a nice tie in with my love of the Lakers), his last movie was bad, the two jakes was so so, and I am not in a rush to see Anger Management again, though it could have been better. I liked Mickey Rourke in the Pope of Greenwich Village, Rumble Fish, Bar Fly, Angel Heart, the Wrestler, but I could find a dozen horrible movies. And don't get me started on Robert De Niro retirement plan years as a comedian post Meet the Parents (He was so good in King of Comedy, but that was not your typical comedy.

I wouldn't defend some of my favorite actors in bad movies, I wont defend the Lakers when they suck. The whole debate over the new ghostbusters was divisive, created antipathy and was artistically and intellectually mendacious.

And finally, tangentially linked to ghostbusters, I grew up with Alien and Aliens etc, I never had a problem with Sigourney Weaver being the go to person in the room when their was an invasion. Why? Because she and the movies were good.

I like every single one of the lead cast members of the new Ghostbusters. I like them in movies, tv shows/SNL, which made it extra disappointing that the movie was absolute garbage. Waste of a talented cast, possibly the worst movie I saw last year, definitely the worst I saw at the theater.

So that was a strange ending to the Oscars. Not sure if that was planned or if it really was a mistake.

Get Out was disappointing. Only one scary moment. More of a "what's going on here" type of movie than a scary one.

    Wait for it on Netflix.
