Full throttle out of the gate...it had some humorous moments at least to me. Not without its pot holes a lot of it to be honest. If I was a gamer, I'd totally dig it. I was losing interest but stuck it out. Wackiest action flick I've seen in a long time. C+

There was something unique about the premise in the beginning and throughout...then a sharp left turn near the last quarter. Not bad. B-.

Watched Magnificent Seven. Really wanted this movie to be great as it had two elements I love in movies, Denzel Washington and westerns. Good fun fighting action, but little to no character development. In the end I only found it okay.

I saw it Sunday and feel the same as you. I wanted it to be more. It was good and worth watching, but not great. A few funny comments, but I feel like 4 of the "main" characters I didn't even know anything about. The shootouts were good.

Yeah and it's already getting Oscar buzz. It probably helps Denzel and Voila won Tony awards for the very play this movie is based on. Yeah it's on my must see list.

Slick production...mostly style and not much substance? You figure in an ensemble cast, the director can only insert so much of the character development factor in the movie. Not just the leads but the villains as well... What was the running time? One hour, forty minutes?

About 2 hours. I feel an extra 10-15 minutes would have been worth it to really flesh out the characters. For instance Denzel's character you find out in the end why he's doing what he did. Show that at the beginning and you become more emotionallly invested in the character. The others just seemed like they were just along for the ride for the heck of it and like John said four you barely know. Then the movie just becomes a shoot 'em up and blow stuff up and call it a day movie. Don't get me wrong, I loved the action but when comparing this the the excellent original it comes up short in overall story quality.

Agreed about Magnificent 7. It kept things just a little too shallow. Still a fun watch, but nothing special.

The Accountant was really good. I'm a big Affleck fan. Combination of Forrest Gump and Jason Bourne. B+

Class Divide is a documentary on HBO. It shows a neighborhood in NYC. One side of the street is housing projects. On the other side is a multi million dollar school where the tuition is $45,000 per year and the kids who attend are flying off to Switzerland for the weekend. Focuses on a few aspects of the great divide and gentrification (or Urban Renewal if you're profiting off it). Solid B.

    Both are highly recommended.

For some reason I immediately got this picture in my head of Jason Bourne manically trying to catch that feather that's floating around in order to question it's true intentions.

Dr. Strange was pretty good. The opening scene made me regret going to the film - the magic looks downright silly. Then Benadryl Coldcream enters the scene and totally makes the movie. He's amazing, it's a good, compelling story, and it made all the magic stuff absolutely tolerable maybe even enjoyable. Some pretty rad effects, but it's mostly a matter of watching Blunderbuss Kumquat dominate. He's so good.
