Yep looks like it. He'll join Holmes there as well. I'd say it's likely Anthony Brown starts the season there and probably Nance Jr. too.

    Russell/Williams
    Clarkson/Jabari
    Bryant/Young/World Peace?
    Randle/Bass/Kelly
    Hibbert/Black/Sacre

I would really rather turn Kelly into a veteran PG...

Why is it we seem to be signing guys like Holmes and Frazier to some level of money guaranteed prior to them even going to camp for evaluation? Is it me or have we had to change the way we do business by locking them up for when they are in D-league so as not to have them snatched?

It's a new wrinkle the Lakers are using. By signing them to these deals we lock up their rights in the D-League so other teams can't snatch them up I believe.

Have we ever had a player snatched from Defenders that turned into a good NBA player elsewhere? Not coming up with any off top of head but that doesn't mean anything. [IMG]

Haven't read through this thread, and I don't know anything about this guy. Sounds like camp fodder ...

BUT, this is very encouraging. It sounds like we're willing to dish out a lot of at least partially guaranteed money just in case guys end up impressing in training camp. Worst case, ownership is out a few hundred thousand. Best case, we get another steal who we get to keep for an extended amount of time for relatively cheap.

Basically he's one of the better 3pt shooters coming out of college in this draft. But can he do more than that. We'll see...

Exactly. His shooting will translate, I believe. What I want to see is if alleged 'defense' that has been spoken of highly of can succeed at this level.

Russell played with Mike Frazier in HS? Wow if so, and he is somehow in the Lakers future, reminds of Jordan Clarkson and Jabari Brown being running mates in college (am looking forward to seeing Jabari's improvement come pre-season games actually and think he should be on the roster) The chemistry and family effect would be off the charts. Has to have a positive effect on Mike's confidence in camp with D'Angelo having his back and as an alpha dog "friend" to talk with after that guy has been on the mountain top with Kobe, Nash, Metta and Byron. Same as was case for Jabari with Jordan last year.

Just work it so we can have Metta. I'm on this train big time now the more I think of it if he's in killer shape. The intangibles and benefits to the squad FAR outweigh what he has lost from his championship year. So much to be gained from him for the young guns.

And as well >> room for Bob after he's "fixed".

I'm going to say Bob moves feet on defense 85% of the speed or more of Willie Cauley Stein. It was just one play I recall in a summer game picking a guy up driving from near the 3 point line and having to shuffle and move really fast to keep proper position on him all the way down. What do you think of that % .... too high, too low, close? Do you even care about this question? :p

Edit ......Moving question to Bob's thread along with photo...

Meanwhile no one cares about Frazier? :(

I liked him. I liked his work on the court. He's got some serious flaws that I'm not sure can be fixed namely that he's small... There's a lot of super talented guys his height that just never make it in the NBA. He's got a nice stroke, but he doesn't jump high enough and his release point is low. That's why his jumper was blocked more than once this pre-season.

Hopefully we stash him in the D-League or he finds work overseas.

Do I care? Nope. He's a shooter that couldn't make a shot, and he was so mediocre in every other area as well. He belongs in the D-League or overseas, doesn't have next level talent.

It was going to be tough for any guard to make the roster with

    Kobe
    Clarkson
    Russell
    Lou
    Huertas

    in front of you.....
