Well, considering that our defense fell off a cliff this season, and our best POA defender missed nearly the entire season, Max should have been given more burn. Instead, Hamster decided that TP was a much better choice to chase around much smaller and quicker guards. According to the statistics, and the eye test, that didn’t work out very well for us.
yeah, i'm just saying max didn't show up on defense the way he needed to, imo. cam did better, so despite being similarly bad by most metrics, he got the nod. hard to disagree, really.
Max had an extremely short leash and is a young dude who needed burn to develop. I completely disagree with our Franchises belief that you can’t develop a prospect throughout the season who’s on a veteran laden team. I’ve watched it over and over and over again through my years of watching NBA ball. It’s possible- you just have to have a half way decent coach in order to even try it.
According to stat muse, Cam’s defensive rating is 116 and Max’s is 118. Cam has zero offensive game and Max has shot 45% from 3 in his last ten games.
fair enough. i wanted max to get the nod early over cam for similar reasons. i'm not positive it would have worked, but you're right that we didn't really try hard.
for the season, max is at 36% to cam's 33%. and dbpm has cam at a +1 and max at a -.5 (much bigger difference than drtg, but in same direction).
Max played well, on both sides of the ball, and I didn’t witness any out of control plays that many here are talking about.
I hope he’s re-signed and given more time to develop, still just 21 years old, I don’t like when we give up on our young players so quick
in fairness, it kind of looks like he's being utilized correctly there, in that the FGA density is where the %s are good. for example, he's taken twice as many from the right corner as the left, and he's much better on that side. but if the general point is that at this stage in his development, he's a catch and shoot guy and not a pick and roll ballhandler, i buy that for sure. plenty of time to develop other things. if he can prove that the three point shot is real, that's step 1.
Reason 5,124 that Ham is a terrible coach: Giving zero sh*ts about developing Christie- a prototypical 3 and D player who could have really helped this team out with its weakest point: Defense. SMH
