Getting back on topic: Max hasnt' been good in a long time
Very predictable on drives where he tries to throw down every time he gets past the primary defender and it's end up being rejected.
Very rough on ball defense as the book is now out to shot or shoulder fake and he tend to get turned which causes him to lose a 1/2 step.

Feels like he need another year or two of seasoning to progress to a true 3 an D type

I’m still of the belief that Max will be a solid rotation player in the near future. He has the athleticism, size, defensive ability and youth. Now he just needs to just get more comfortable on the floor with the limited burn he receives.

Can't wait for him to be bundled with someone else for an aging vet in the summer.

Max's time is unfortunately coming to an end with Gabe Vincent returning this sunday

It's a sad day indeed...because we're gonna have a small backcourt once again.

I guess the only upside to Max not really breaking out this year is that if we re-sign him this summer, it's going to be at a much smaller number than what he's capable of.

probably not possible. he's an RFA (like reaves last year). any salary bump big enough to make s&ts interesting would make him BYC, which is very difficult.

i'm guessing we keep him on a short-term deal at low money. he'll want a player option and the ability to be a UFA soon.

He will be happy that Hambone won’t be back next year, along with multitudes of others.

i'm not sure it was hambone who held him back entirely this year. he still has some improving to do before he's a top-8 player on a playoff team.

i do think that if he were playing for a lotto team, he'd probably be generating a little buzz right now, though.

I wouldn’t put a lot of money on Ham being gone, let alone it being a sure thing. Unless we get bounced in the play-in or first round if we get there.

After it was reported that LeBron was openly throwing out Hambone’s play calls, I became convinced that he won’t be back.
LeBron will have to totally change his mind by season’s end.
That being said, I won’t be surprised if our FO decides to keep him if somehow we make it back to the WCF.
With how easy it is for other coaches to outmaneuver Hamster, and our inability to play decent team defense, I’m not expecting us to go far.

yeah, i think we all agree that if we go out in round 1 or before, ham's gone. if we go anywhere past that--even second round--think he probably stays.

i think that if he stays, we probably won't sign any of his former guys in free agency, and i'm guessing we'll add someone to the coaching staff that has lebron's respect.

but i think it's on max to make it harder to sit him. his numbers are pretty bad across the board, advanced or traditional stats. i'm a max fan/believer, but he didn't make the jump we were hoping for, and only some of that can be pinned on ham. it would be different if he kicked butt in the time he got.
