Let's see. Wrong, partially wrong and wrong. All Max needs is minutes to be ready. No player is ready without playing time. If he can continue to get minutes, he is going to pull away from players like Cam and TP. I like those guys but if you break down their overall games, they can't do what Max is going to do once he gets comfortable and gains confidence. As often the case around here, players are trashed before they have been given a chance. Often due to poor coaching. Which is the case with Max just like it was last season with Austin. People forget Max was getting practically no minutes before the injuries forced Ham to play him. Contrary to old school beliefs sitting on your butt doesn't get you ready to play.
This season depends what we need more of in any given game. Cam has "some" edge with quickness, the extra reach, hands, anticipation and slithering screens. Max plays decent D. Max on offense has as big or bigger of an edge though, especially from deep. Plus there will be times like last night they play together.
Keep progressing Max and proving your doubters wrong! Once he stops being treated like a rookie with the terrible calls against him playing solid D, more peeps notice his value.
i was one who thought max deserved minutes over cam, but i had to eat crow after cam produced when the games started counting and max shrunk a bit. cam's injury let max get his footing a bit, which was a nice silver lining to what was something of a cloud (cam really is looking like the answer at starting sg for the time being). relatedly, IF gabe comes back, i'm sure he'll get his chance, but that leash will be shorter because max is gaining experience.
With Max already being a better defender than Gabe, if he keeps improving on his three, there’s really no reason for Vincent to get much more than spot duty. That being said, Ham will probably play Gabe over Max because he would rather play an experienced player over one who is younger and better.
i think it's the ballhandling against pressure, too. a few made fun of those of us who questioned reaves and christie's ability to do that, but i think we were right. when teams see one of them at the point, they ratchet up the pressure, and our offense gets into late starts and gets ugly. it's why most nba teams employ at least a couple very strong ballhandlers. that said, you can get by without one against some matchups and during some periods in games.
not convinced. all this high TO coincided with other b*******, including braindead luneups from Pimple. we just saw him doing better against the Rockets, IMO, but of course Pimple only allowed like 20 minutes.
Max won't see the floor if Vincent come back .. A team is not sitting a guy they just paid 33 millions over a sophomore ..
I agree. It’s sometimes not about who’s playing better. Politics do exist in the amount of burn some players receive.
Gabe Vincent and Max don't really have the same role. Gabe needs to bring up the ball as a PG, Max is a SG through and through. Max and Cam are the ones pitted against each other more likely for PT once Vincent is back. Again, good problems to have if we can get our whole squad healthy again. Max really showed up when Cam was out. We have a good team.
loving his trajectory, wasn't hopeful when season started but looks like another gem thanks to the scouting dept
i think max's athleticism is actually a little underrated. jalen green couldn't get rid of him without a screen. he still isn't great at navigating screens, but when he figures that out, he's going to be a shut-down level defender, imo.
He's still a little light in the pants, once he puts on some more muscle and weight, he's going to be a strong perimeter defender. He has the quickness and agility, if he can knock down a few shots, he can get some minutes. I think we are bringing Max along just right.
I said it before the season , his development during the season is key because he has the potential to be the fifth player to close games when it matter .. The Lakers organization doesn't see that and it will cost us in the playoffs
Yep if no trade max has the most potential to be a two way player. He's much better defensively than Prince and his 3 pt shot is turning around and he's got a little floater pullups in the lane that he can get off. Lakers have a lot of bodies right now to work in the rotation they got to keep giving him minutes and actually try him in finishing lineups. He's the most KCP like player in the roster
