Really nice job filling in. Was up to the task defensively, shot looked good, and really liked the dive and dunks he got.
This is the Max Christie I remember from Summer League. Great defense, nice shot and not afraid to take it to the hole. Awesome to see him reemerge just when we needed it most desperately.
good recognition. AD can find cutters off doubles, we just never send them. max makes the right basketball play then handles an imperfect pass and finishes strong. glad to see him starting to settle in a bit.
He needed this one - been a rough go for him so far even when he's gotten minutes. I think his defense was OK...he still gets bumped off his position easily and to be honest, the shots that Mitchell got in the 4th were good shots taht just didn't go down. I don't think Max Christie "shut him down" like most are saying on twitter right now. He has a long way to go and I still prefer Cam Reddish over him....but offensively, he really stepped it up tonight and I was more impressed with that versus his defense. The defense will come with time...his effort is there, it's just the guys he has to guard are just tough covers for anybody in the league regardless of how good you are defensively
Other than reps, his biggest need is still on the weight room and with the nutritionist. He's noticeably bigger than last year but still needs another 12 pounds (give/take), guys put that arm or shoulder in his chest and it's over.
Nonsense what better way to expect good timing and execution against actual NBA players than the perfect way Ham has brought him along with zero minutes and DNPs. Yes, on offense is where he has a chance to pull out in front of Cam unless Cam becomes more consistent there and can knock down threes. And it took Max getting actual playing time to recapture what he had going in SL and start knocking them down again in the 3rd game. After being planted on the bench. But even so, and rightly so, Ham is going to go for the better perimeter D. Unless Cam gets the Vanderbilt treatment we saw in the playoffs. Then seems to me don't be so pig headed Ham as to not give Max some more burn if Cam's just clanking them. It's not like there's a really huge drop off on defense with Max when more offense is needed. Agree with the rest too.
Guys with this sort of stand still explosion and have some skills usually have good careers in the NBA. One of the reasons I thought for sure Max was going to have a breakout year. Hopefully this is a turning point game for him and the game slows down for him enough that he can use his physical skills. On the same thoughtI, have no idea how Donovan Mitchell lasted till the 13th pick. That explosion he has off two legs straight up is elite and just jumps out at you
I've been a Max fan and was a Cam skeptic but seeing both in terms of Cam's potential and actual output he has been significantly better then Max. Cam size, length and ability to switch his hips plus anticipation is at another level. You can see why scouts have always loved him
Yeah..I lose track, but one of these moderators around here, was always high on Cam. Laker Jones or Time maybe? I must admit that he's been better than I expected.
SGA tore him up: I think he's a year away. Needs to get the game speed down and get used to playing against these uber skilled guys a bit more
He's not a year away...he's light years away. He's not ready - and we all hyped him per usual. I don't think Christie is gonna emerge onto the scene like Reaves did...another THT type guy unfortunately.
Springy Maxie I like how Ham plays him with Reaves as he can bring down the ball. Defense and rebounding are automatic
Thought this was his best game as a pro. Good across the board. Having C and Vando took a lot of pressure off of him and he looked very good both on O and D
