The way his jumper has improved, shows that he's willing to put in the work. We cleared the deck for him at 2, behind Austin. The table is set for Max to a have a break out campaign.
It won't be long, whether later this season or next they will be starting together. Austin has already shown he is too good of a player not to start and Max will be proving that this year. Those two together would torture the league for at least a decade. Now that we know we have AD long term we are looking pretty good.
So would i, but if you tell me we have someone who's a starter for 4 years and a starting caliber backup with a career average of nearly 30 MPG, double digit scoring and who can do some things defensively; that's a HUGE win for a second round selection. I think he has a higher ceiling defensively than Josh, but with his size I think the type of defensive impact will likely mirror that of Josh more so than KCP. Hodge is closer to KCP stylistically on defense.
I don't know: Josh Richardson hasn't been good since he left Miami. The Miami years like an aberration under the Spoelstra scheme. He hasn't been able to stick on a team longer then a year and these were teams with playoff ambitions who would love to have KCP. Really hope Max is better than him because I just don't think Richardson is all that good
i'll split the difference per usual-- getting a 10-year nba rotation player at pick 35 is great, but it's ok to hope for more. i think max is a sharper, more polished player than richardson was at the same age (he came in the league at 22), so i'm hoping he can be better. but if he's just that; that's solid. let's keeping doing that with our picks.
Wish they would do a set of repeat measurements on him: he definitely looked like a very big SG compared to the rest of summer league. If you can maintain quickness that heft definitely helps both on offense and defense as you're ability take contact completely changes what you can do
This dude could be the starting 2 or 3 as soon as this season. His skills are too complementary to star players to just have him come off the bench. We need microwave scorers off the bench. Not really sure if that is Max. But he is a 3 and D role player along the lines of KCP and GReen. However, after seeing him play with more on ball in summer league, I wouldn't rule out him being a microwave 6th man.
Two line ups I like. Austin, Max, Rui, Lebron and AD. Austin, Max, Lebron, AD and Colin. These are tough defensive lineups and should have no trouble scoring. When talking about our best line ups Max is in them. If we are smart enough to use him correctly through the regular season by playoff time the Austin/Max combo is going to be devastating. The talent and versatility of that combo combined with Lebron and AD is something no team has an answer for. We have a lot of good players and many starting lineup options, but these give us the best shot to go all the way. Coach Ham just needs the intestinal fortitude to run these lineups from the beginning. Let the chemistry and confidence build to a playoff level.
Ham would never have had the balls or feel of the game or inclination to have run AR the last 12 1/2 minutes of the Germany game IMO. Let’s hope he grows some rather than worrying about names and feelings and is going to school on watching how Kerr is doing things with regard to Reaves. And it spills over to Max as well. IF he earns it and shows out early in the season.
Good point regarding Ham. That's why I feel Rui and Dlo have the edge to start. But if Max earns a starting role over one of those two, Ham shouldn't let politics get in the way. With Rui/Dlo starting, that's a lot of players who need touches in the starting 5.
I like Max, but I haven't seen him play nearly enough meaningful minutes, in order to automatically place him, in any lineup over D'Angelo or Gabe. Theoretically he would be great, but he has to earn that...especially considering the fact, that we have over 30M invested into Russell and Vincent at PG. Collin hasn't even played a preseason game against NBA regulars yet. I'd pump the brakes on that idea too. This is a tough league...optimism is always cool though.
Meh...he definitely out coached Kerr, head to head in the playoffs, didn't he? I think Darvin knows what he's doing.
Meh … your response as doesn’t address him taking way longer than he should have to expand Reaves’s minutes consistently and role and start him, choosing to stick with Beverley, another midget, next to Schroder and nowhere near AR’s value to the team as he since proved once put into the starting lineup.
Pump your brakes all you want. They all have to earn it. That is what I have been saying for a long time. You are kind of late to the party as usual and as obnoxious as ever. Playing the best players is the best plan, not going with the highest payroll. That ranks right up there with the pecking order, pay your dues crowd. You are pretty decent at numbers, but it is a very good thing you aren't a scout or a coach...lol.
Same here which you just ignored. I said “IF” Max earns it and shows out early in the season, Slick. Certainly if he defends better than either and given his size, plus hits shots. “IF”. Give him the minutes he earns, not necessarily saying start him. I also have high hopes and expectations for DLO and Vincent.
