My concern is none of those guys are SFs. You can compensate and move guys around. AR can play up, Christie can play up (but he's really light right now), Rui can play down, Bron can do anything, and Vando is an odd mix of C/PF offensively and SF defensively. But all that requires some game planning of what you have to switch or plan for on the other side because of that. There's not a set it and forget it option from that pool. I think the team agrees since we were looking at an additional wing at the deadline until the sand ran out of the timer and that was with Brown in the fold. I'm not looking for more than a minimum-ish roster spot to be used for this just to shore it up. There's a lot of guys who fit the bill for what I'm looking for: Stanley Johnson - the prodigal son can finally return! Rudy Gay - might be glad to see the playoffs again. One of the old end of the bench vets I think we could nab. Josh Jackson - non-guaranteed deal, camp invite With any of those 3, you have guys you don't have to find minutes for. Play them as needed, DNP them as needed. If we're wanting to keep up the one year prove it and cash out thing on the wing, you might be in the mix for: Josh Richardson or Justise Winslow If DS leaves, I'm throwing the bulk of my MLE at Rose. I don't think he's costing the full thing, maybe you get him for $7m+ and then can offer a slightly above min offer ($3m+) to one of those 1 year prove it wings. We've been distantly interested before but he either wanted to be close to Chicago (Minny) or enjoyed playing in NY (Stockholm syndrome?). Then bringing in Jevon Carter as the 3rd PG for POA D and due to some familiarity with Ham. DLO is going to miss games, so I want 3 at that spot. Yeah, I think Mo is with us until the deadline. Still to avoid another Rockets game, I'd like more cushion there. If Tristan pans out, he can stay. Should still have tread on the tires. If not, does Bron have any pull left with Love? Or RoLo is fine by me, there's a Disney Land in LA. They love Disney...a lot. AD/Mo/Tristan Bron/Rui/Gabriel Vando/Max/Stan AR/Beas DLO/DS/Carter or AD/Mo/RoLo Bron/Rui/Gabriel Vando/Max/Gay AR/Beas DLO/Rose/Carter I'm good with either. We'll probably address one of those 3 spots in the draft as well.
Max made big strides from the Las Vegas summer league. He's still only 19, so there will still be some growing pains ahead. Stanley Johnson will be on the roster next season and Rudy Gay is finished. The draft has some good prospects at our pick, if this scouting department can pull gems out of the 2nd round. I imagine that they can find a rotation piece in the 1st.
well this Twolves game basically went the way I was concerned about: Lakers need Christie now lol not next year.
I'm still hoping Max gets some PT. Maybe we'll have a blow out win and he'll get minutes. I just want him to see some time in the playoffs. He's earned it IMO.
He should be putting in work all summer and considerable minutes next season off the bench I would think. Unless his shooting regresses.
Young man is very fortunately to be playing with a lot of high end talent and high IQ players. hopefully we are able to develop him and keep him long term.
it was garbage time, but i thought he looked pretty good out there. i think he's going to be in the rotation next year. he's another big guard who can basically do it all on offense, and he can defend. just has to learn how not to foul. another good find in the draft.
He moved great on D with a guy too and went up near the rim and blocked his shot. Showed a little some of his handles work to get space and sink a J with that nice stroke.
Max is a keeper..with our scouting department's track record, I can't say that I'm totally shocked. I still believe that his time will come next season though, but a few minutes here and there, in this run, isn't out of the question.
Max is already a better version of TBJ IMO. He should be great in that bench role next season. I wouldn’t hesitate to use him in the playoffs either if Troy and Beasley continue to suck.
Just being around the playoffs in his rookie season will be huge. In an ideal world Max continues to fill out and serves as a 3&D wing. Right now he is about 6’5 and close to 200 pounds with a 6’9 wingspan. If he continues to add muscle over the next few seasons without losing his speed, he can be a nice defender and really nail down that SG spot alongside Reaves.
Still looking out for you Kid …. no page 2 for you …. you keep looking good with good moves, scoring and good D when you have gotten any minutes in these Playoffs. BUMP!
