He's been awesome. For me, he's slowly becoming a player that I don't want to trade. He has the archetype that every team looks for, we should keep it I think his ceiling is becoming Mikal Bridges, which is awesome
At the risk of another "blah blah blah" from @VladeD714 whom I didn't know was my old "Pops" at the time .... I see him at the smooth and explosive athlete he is now and can only imagine how much more so of that in a couple of years before he even gets to his prime. I mean I'm sure it can be down played or pooh poohed but if you think about it we have some nice pieces for post LeBron if we don't blow them out pre-maturely in AR, Dalton, Rui, Max, maybe even the other Max if he takes a leap mentally. Get some young strong Big Man in here somehow to help AD out in the meantime.
I’m glad that no longer have to type “just be patient” with Max. He’s finally putting it all together and still has room to grow- especially regarding reading and reacting while handling the ball.
I think he has better physical tools than KCP, probably a better ahtlete and he's smarter too. Man... Rob makes out like gangbusters on that one so far.
KCP could jump and dunk and we read he was always one of the fasted guys on the court so it would be great to be at or near that level.
yeah, not sure what zen is referencing by tools there, as kcp is definitely more athletic, probably even now despite being several years older and past his athletic prime. if he can just have kcp type impact, it's huge, though. and that's what he's been doing lately. biggest thing kcp gave us was length that could chase guards on defense without being an absolute zero on offense like cam. this is what we were hoping when we signed max, and we're getting it after a rough start. yay.
max is slightly bigger (i checked the combine and KCP was 2 years older when drafted) @abeer3 Yeah, I dont think the numbers support your theory.
watching the two players play does. i put nearly zero stock in the combine athletic testing, though. you never just run a straight line full court or slide in a prescribed way, nor leap in the ways they measure it. thus it doesn't translate in game. kcp's speed pops off the screen, but max's never has. he's not slow; just not as functionally fast. he also doesn't contain dribblers like kcp, lane agility numbers be damned. finally, he struggles to finish at the rim against bigs, so that vertical is doing jack squat for him. anyway, i hope you're right that he's a superior athlete to kcp because if so, he has a very bright future, as his skills are more advanced than kcp's were at the same age.
We've never got to see them side by side, so the numbers is the best I can do. Perception of the general pace of the game adds to the impression as well, IMO. I don't think there is much difference and I do think Max is a better leaper (some of his blocks are quite amazing, IMO). No idea why he has trouble finishing at the rim with a 37 vertical.
For me, KCP has the quicker foot speed, but Max has the better hops. Both are athletic, just in different ways.
Don't think it'll sustain, but still an impressive stretch offensively. Rob must be feeling much better about that pay day cause it was rough to start this year. If the defensive efforts stick and his numbers dip to 9-11 PPG, I think that's a more realistic outlook on this roster.
…. don’t go getting all attached to our youngins’ now. …. but I hear you it’s like the good/bad old days
