Love Huertas. I know some people get down on him here, but he's not the useless lump Byron made him out to be.

He had a nice game, but not gonna overreact. He's still not an NBA player. Even without Byron he doesn't make most NBA rosters.

Exactly. It was a Jimmy Chitwood-like game, but it was just that...A game. He's still garbage time minutes until he does this consistently

He's a fringe NBA player due to his weaknesses but he can contribute to an NBA team if utilized correctly. San Antonio for example would know who to use him. He has to be hidden on d, but it's not like he's the first guy in the NBA that needs this. He'd excel in a D antonio system.

I give him crap all the time but he did have a great game. Great passing as usual but took and made some good shots also.

While I am not a big fan of the guy on the floor, I'm certainly not rooting against him. It's not like he's gonna be here next season, he wanted to play in the NBA and he did, good for him. He's been a total pro in what I'm sure is a disaster of a season to him, no way he expected us to suck this bad, or probably knew much about B0ron. So honestly I'm glad he was a part of this win, he and the rest of the poor team get to feel like winners for a rare day out of many awful ones.

He has found a role in an up tempo offense, which is what we've been saying he needs to do all season long. He can play, but I wouldn't want to have to rely on him night after night.

I don't mind him at all. We should be playing up tempo so he would be fine. This has been a big adjustment season for him and for that matter the entire team. I would like to see how he did under a different coach.

I've been relatively supportive of him this season and like @trodgers said: THIS is why.

In the right system and right environment Huertas has NBA level vision and an ability to run an offense. He can absolutely thrive in the kind of offense we're playing now (which is the motion offense we've been begging for all season). I wouldn't mind him coming back next season in this role. There's something to be said for a guy who is completely unselfish. I'd rather have that then a guy who is only looking to shoot and score for himself (looking at you, Lou). Obviously I don't think Marcelo can do this every day so no he's not better than Lou, but the mentality is really what I'm looking for. That's why I'm high on Vasquez this summer.

He also played about as well defensively as you could ever hope for from him. He got beat by Steph (who missed a lot of gimmes) a lot, but he also worked his tail off to challenge as many shots as he could. Credit where it's due.

glad to see him getting a chance to show what he's got

he's incredibly average but like others have said, in the right system he could have some success. and there is no system with byron so that's that

I've loved what I've been seeing from him lately. Him and Nance together have great chemistry. Before, I was saying that we should probably just cut him and try out some younger guards. Now I think that would be a little messed up. He seems like a nice teammate. We owe it to him to let HIM try out for other teams. In a way we did that, and I'm sure his performance against Curry will ensure that SOMEONE signs him next year.

After hearing Kobe and D'Angelo speaking positively about Huertas and performing well against Golden State, I feel bad for thinking he sucked as a player. Even though he's a played many years against great competition in Europe, the NBA is completely different so he probably needed time to adjust as well. And I should've known that Byron's offense doesn't really help anyone, although I guess it's been looking a little better aside from the Hawks game.

I love him since Day 1, fun player but needs to be utilized correctly. I know I'm late but why the hell did we flood the backcourt in the first place?

That's because it's not his offense. He took more modern offensive sets from other coaches and started using them and lo and behold our offense looks better and our young players look better... Byron is such an idiot.

I knew Huertas needed a more open system for him to be successful. Let's be clear, he played about as well as he'll ever play Sunday against GS, but he's better than we've seen and I put almost all of that on Byron.

Credit where it's due once again, he gave us solid minutes. No he wasn't perfect, some bad turnovers, still jumping to pass too much, but he's been asked to step in due to injury and he's done a very nice job.
