He's not afraid , this is the exact type of player we missed against the Suns in the playoffs . Nunn will be the same
This is a big baller shot, no doubt. But I think he wouldn't take that shot without the Rondo blessing. It was a dumb shot at that point in the game. But if your floor general sets you up like that, you take it. No fear, indeed!
look at rondo's iq on that play. initially called for the ball to push pace, but when he saw monk trailing open, he sets the screen so that there can't be any contest.
Not sure which is more insane.... his +/- for the game or the Curry shot. Great game from him. It's a luxury to have role players who can do that when one of the 3 sit and their number is called Also, I've been really impressed with his help D. Vogel has found a way to get something out of him on that end. His speed has allowed him to rotate and help trap, often with Melo. The bad: his man to man D is hard to watch. They hunted him and Poeltl took him to church on the switch every time.
Monk and Nunn (when healthy) should be our starting backcourt. Bring Westbrook off the bench. We need to play Lebron and Russ together as little as possible.
You know that’s not going to happen, right? Bringing a HOF player still in his prime off the bench to start games? But they can still stagger minutes effectively to achieve most of what you and we want. Plus he’s already dialing in with AD for two man game and lobs, something Schroder couldn’t do and who knows with Monk and Nunn, not a given. Only Rondo prior had that connection here. Maybe Bron.
Since Russ is simply not going to come off the bench, you can manipulate the minutes so that he still leads the bench guys fairly often, pushing the tempo as much as possible. Bron needs to play career low in minutes anyway. AS LT said, stagger them.
It's too bad he threw up an airball with time on the clock and no real play that was run. That was dumb. The three pointer he hit against the Spurs he was open even though it was deep and not a more difficult pull up 3 with a guy in his face. That being said he had two outstanding players prior to that was able to dance and get a layup and a great assist. Feels like he will be fine once Lebron comes back and be a real asset
Yeah I’m not too mad at Monk for that shot against OKC. I think the hope was he’d be open for a three after curling off the screen directly from the inbounds. But he wasn’t, and then everyone else was standing around so he was forced to try to create something.
He was awful last night in his short stint. Offensively, he brings a lot of value for this team. Defensively? Not so much. Maybe the light bulb will go off and he'll improve.
I think it depends on Vogel's strategy for that game. He wanted to play physical against their small backcourt and AB and AR did a good job of putting a body on them. Monk has a slight frame, doesn't play individual defense, and the microwave was unplugged. Not a recipe for much PT.
I'll give Monk a pass, might've still been under the weather as he was questionable yesterday. Competition is arriving though, with THT/Ellington/Nunn coming back soon.
There is some multiplicity of skills producing an imbalanced roster. we could have used Kieff just about now
I was just thinking about how we could definitely use his skill set on defense this year. Yeah, he couldn’t throw a pea in the ocean last season, but his D was always solid.
