I gotta say I'm thoroughly enjoying our new image this past week. It's early, but there's already a different vibe. I was afraid Magic watching over practices would be like. B0ron, but it's not, he's clearly a smart man and is assessing the entire situation around him, really throwing himself into this job. Plus already we have heard rumors of at least one star wanting to come here in Paul George, and while we heard some rumors like that in years past, I actually buy it this time. It's way early in this process, but I don't see the media mocking us on tv any time we are mentioned anymore, they are much more hopeful. It's kinda shocking to me to think that Jim Buss really was that bad for our image, but that appears to be the case as we have gone from extremely minimal press coverage from Jim and boring as hell press coverage from Mitch, to having a slight buzz about us again with Magic.
Wow. As the saying goes, that escalated quickly. For what it's worth I'm on Jeannie's side on this one. Jimbo was running this thing into the ground and the team's record speaks for itself, let alone I'm sure what Time Warner Cable/Spectrum was saying about the product they put so much money into. Jeannie did what needed to be done, not to mention she let Jim hang himself with his self-appointed time table to turn things around. She really didn't have a lot of choice for the business. Jim failed and obviously wasn't going make good on his promise to quit. Now to pull this is pretty weak.
I mean, good lord, how is this happening? Man I stuck up for Jim at times because he appeared to be part of some good moves, but I'm done with this guy, he clearly wants to run the Lakers and run them his way, results be damned.
3 thoughts: 1. Thank God Dr Buss had the foresight to appoint Jeannie as Director. 2. Jimmy Boy should've been fired a lot sooner than he was. 3. Lakers: We know Drama!
Honestly, this is on Dr. Buss. If he had raised his family half as well as he ran the team, none of this would have happened. But, I'm relieved that he clarified in the trust that she has the most sway among the siblings. Jeannie is far from perfect, but she is for sure better than Johnny or Jim. She will let those she has hired run the team, and it seems she has made good hires so far.
Buss family owns 66% of the team. Ownership, among that 66% is divided up equally among the 6 children = 11% per child. Others own 34% of the team, meaning someone else (non-Buss) could have had controlling interest in the team. That's why Dr Buss set up the board to control the team, with Jeannie serving as the director. Smart move to ensure Buss family controls the team. However, as TIME said, he didn't do a great job raising them, especially Jimmy who appears to be petty and unfocused. Never a good combo.
Oldest Buss kid. He ran some minor sports team for a while then got out. Not sure what he does now besides plot coups.
