Rob, who is a fantastic follow on twitter and I guess is friends with Jeanie (weird), has been doing this for a while and its great reading all the submissions in the thread
Was that Baxter piece seriously supposed to be a hit piece on Magic? Cause if it was, Earv be like...
Every time I see this thread I'm reminded how he deliberately and spitefully sabotaged our free agency. Could have gone to Jeanie in private and still accomplished getting Luke fired, and if unhappy that she would not fire Rob too .... told her that following the draft and free agency he would be stepping down. Instead he does the bombshell before last game of the season and then the hatchet job on the organization and Rob on national TV. Yeah that is what someone who loves her like a sister and loves the Lakers does. A-hole.
Was just trying to make a joke, LT. Chill bro haha. Look at it this way. Dolan is in charge of the Knicks, right? Are they still one of the front runners to KD/Kyrie? Did Zion not want the Knicks to win the 1st overall pick? Was NY not on AD's short list of trade destinations. Market matters...so for all the chaos in the FO, the narrative of free agents dismissing the Lakers us far off imo. In fact we do right by our stars...look at the jerseys in the rafters....look at Kob's legacy deal, on a torn Achilles no less...look at Bron's 4 yr pact coming off 1+1's...look at how we continue to keep it in the "Laker family" after your playing days are over (meanwhile Dolan might ban your a** from the arena). Superstars know what the Lakers are about under the Buss name...so get familiar.
Hey vash ..... no worries. Truthfully what I said was not really in reply to you. Just as time goes by and all our main targets allegedly vanishing I even more continue to think about the timing of what he has done twice now right in front this most critical free agency. He could have done it all properly behind the scenes but NO ..... not Magic with the BIG head and choosing to be spiteful about it rather than walking away behind the scenes. Talk about it later and do it after, not right in front of.
LT follow the timeline. Magic was scheduled to appear on First Take for 2 weeks. The Lakers knew about it and scheduled Vogel's intro presser to fall on the same day regardless. If anything Magic could have gone harder than he did. We all wanted a new Prez, but instead we chose to absolve that role and are rolling with Rob as "the guy". I want Jeanie and Rob to succeed, but guys like Myers and Masai (fyi Wiz are still hoping for a meeting with Masai after the playoffs) are still there and it's a shame we didn't attempt to enter those sweepstakes. If anything, Magic helped press for that...but it fell on deaf ears.
Nah, more like a 20 year LakerLifer deal to Magic...or a legacy deal to fulfill another LakerLifer even tho black mamba's don't have Achilles....or a wink wink 4 year deal for Bron before we draft his kid. Look at the statues out front...look at the jersey filled rafters up top...we take care of superstars. We keep them legendary! All the anti-Laker free agency talk is a cluster**** and I'm sure Ballmer's deep pockets (see Jenkins) are paying for a good proportion of them. #JustMeTinFoil'nAgain
You asking a guy that posted a Britney gif if he's serious? Seriously, why so serious? Duffy and Cuban had a falling out when he took Nash to Phx, yet they made nice when he agreed to have Luka be the new face of the Mavs. This was even with #metoo making waves @ #MFFL. How'd Cuban handle that...he cleaned house and rid it if all them animals. Oh and DeAndre decided to come back too. Speaking of decided, Bron came back in spite of that clown Gilbert. Boston's got history with them 17 titles and a supposed goat GM and coach. Their FO seems to be in working order yet Ky may bounce. So all this talk about Magic ruining our chances in free agency and with players shunning the LA market...you serious?
Jesus. The networks need this astute and insightful commentary. You would almost think he had an inside perspective from the organization.
I am really sad about Magic Johnson. He was my favorite Laker after Baylor. He was a great player to watch. But I have got to say he was a terrible coach and a terrible President of Basketball Operations. He screwed up so much letting Bryant go for nothing, letting Randle go for nothing, trading Zubac for a stiff, bringing in over the hill gang instead of some shooters. Then he disrupted the entire team with the AD fiasco. Finally he left and trashed the organization and left the front office in shatters. He didn't work hard and his decisions were all bad. I will remember him as a great player who was a fun to watch as anyone and who was a true leader on the court. I will work had to forget the damage he did to the franchise in his latest job.
Haha...Im just going to let y'all have your narrative. Dude didn't have his own GM or coach and if your cap guy is Rob and you tell him to find you a big that can shoot and asked you to open up a roster spot at the deadline and the best your cap guy comes back with is Mus for Beas/Zu... Then sure it's all Magic's fault. It's been 3 months...enjoy the retread...
