and CAP SPACE...I find it laughable as well anyone who thinks Magic had any hand in the Dodgers personnel department, does Magic even know enough bout baseball talents at this pt when he's shown he doesn't know it as well as he thinks when it comes to bball?

Sounds to me he would still consider coming here if we finally beg him to ...

I didn't get that at all. Jerry just being diplomatic and respectful with regards to the Lakers. He'll try to bury us with the competitive fire he's always had, like all these guys.

The one thing that made me really cringe in that article is this little tidbit:

    That hurts badly...

Insane. We couldn't get a second rounder even?

I know right? Terrible asset management, you can’t/won’t pay them so you give them away. It’s as poorly as we handled the Randle situation, well we don’t want to pay you, so here, we renounce you, go away. We could gave gotten a first rounder if we didn’t want Randle that bad, a first rounder is at least an asset to be traded if you don’t want it, but nope, ‘just go away’. I really hope the FO is learning from these mistakes, but I’m don’t have high hopes for that when they haven’t admitted to any mistakes yet in the first place.

The main issue is if we can't get AD or sign a big free agent, we have NOTHING to show for the years of futility. The picks that we got because of our terrible record will be gone. There is zero hedging whatsoever going on right now. It's either we score big and get all the big fish, or we are left with nothing but Lebron and maybe one kid if their contract hasn't come up yet for an extension. It's actually the worse situation we could possibly be in because Lebron is good enough by himself to prevent us from getting a high enough pick to change our fortunes.

Magic and Pelinka are betting the house on getting a couple more big fish. If they don't, we could be staring at another 3-4 years of missing the playoffs.

That move was just f****** stupid. Unbelievably stupid. We weren't out of the playoff running when he did it so why not at least keep Zu to use for the rest of this season whether we could keep him next year or not.

That said don't think it was as dumb as letting Lopez go in the first place that now they were giving Zu away trying to rectify. And not keeping Randle around, but it was right in the same neighborhood dumb. Again .... the talent these tools let just leave our roster vs what they actually signed.

To be honest, the offensive issues are as much of a coaching issue as a management issue. Given this set of players, Luke tried to do things that only made our spacing problems worse. LFR has talked about this in more detail on a podcast with regards to the 1-4 high. But to be honest, that's more of an alignment like HORNS. There's little we did out of it.

Sliding Rondo to the dunker, putting KCP and Kuzma at the wings, and then running a PnR with LeBron and McGee would probably be something much simpler we could have done, tbh, and probably would have worked a lot better.

These sort of things are actually what someone like Lue would be good at optimizing.

Well it's a team option so I doubt we exercise it next year. Don't understand why exactly we're doing this though...

Yeah I was kidding with the random moves they keep making. This is where it would actually be good to have LaVar for a coach to just quit the rest of the season and send everyone home.

That’s my point. We played Machado one minute tonight, I don’t even know if we played Andre Ingram at all. Why call these guys up if you’re not trying to evaluate them? There’s 6 games left, what’s the point of this when we’re currently playing our best players and for some reason trying to win meaningless games? LeBron, KCP, Kuz, Rondo, all 31 mins+ tonight, McGee close with 27. I doubt this new guy even plays.

I don’t disagree on Luke, which just goes to further show how much the coach and FO aren’t on the same page. That’s a problem, one I don’t think Lue fixes either, unless they stop being “cute” and surround LeBron with shooters next year like he’s always been.
