If it's true than Rob Pelinka is best GM ever

Kirk Goldsberry on the trade of Luka Doncic: «The deal included Dalton Knecht and two FRP «Lakers » managed to squeeze it »

«Lakers » hinted that the deal was different .

I think, Rob Pelinka managed to convince «Dallas » that Luka – risky asset. What does he drink, that he is fat, something else. These negotiations took weeks (3.5 weeks – Bill Simmons). And «Dallas» they started. This deal fell into Pelinka's hands, and he was able to cut back on the volume of outgoing assets to a minimum of », – the analyst and columnist The Ringer laughed.:LLLLLebronlaughing:

I can’t embed the tweet for some reason, but apparently Barkley said “no one who knows basketball thinks LeBron and Luka can play together because they’re both ball dominant.”

Hilarious because if memory serves correctly he said the SAME thing about Luka and Kyrie, who then went on to go on a Finals run together.

I also find it hilarious that Chuck is hyping the Mavericks up when he has always hated on AD he is a huge reason AD has to deal with the “day to day Davis” narrative.

If that IS true about the deal that it started with both 1sts plus Knecht and they haggled for 3.5 weeks until Rob got him down .... just WOW!!!

    :Magicwow4:

    :Crazyartest:

Like one third of the posts on LG are Pelinka haters giving him no credit, that it just fell into his lap because of all their other grievances.

Barkley’s takes are almost always the opposite of the truth.

Meh..wait until the shock wears off league wide. Then the conspiracy theories about the League wanting to prop up Lebron, The Lakers and big TV markets, stuff is going to run wild.

I never would have said that until watching how fast laterally he is and how good he is on defense, and getting better by the game since they made him a starter.

    High risk high reward move.

If they keep this franchise and team on the court still Lebron-centric even with Luka, the results will not change and Lakers will still be mediocre just like we have been throughout his Lakers tenure.

However if Lebron retires soon and they can build around Luka assuming he re-signs in 2026 summer.

Give it up with your mediocrity crap. Seriously? Because of LeBron. Effing clown takes from your rabid hate for the guy. Get a clue.

Max worked hard and made himself more valuable IMO. I wish him the best, Toklat was spot on in his assessment of Max's development.

The C Bags won a ring last year and are in good position to do it again this year and yet the Lakers have largely enlarged one player's statistical profile rather than focusing on championship. Not exactly laudable for a franchise that prides itself on championships.

The greater Lebron's profile increases the mediocre the Lakers have been. More often than not it does not translate to winning basketball.

The Lakers already won a championship in the LeBron era.

Was this made to save the league? Definitely made people more interested again. As ratings were at an all time low since like more than a decade.

love the message to the players, kahwai started this sitting out crap and not playing.

But of course everyone wanted to keep AD and trade lebron but the Mavs aren't that stupid. Theyre stupid, dont get me wrong not that stupid.

Regardless of how his conditioning is or his fallout with the FO, this guy is one of the best players to ever play in terms of skill set. Odom has skills to be the best all around player but it never came to. This guy has the skills and the drive factor/killer mentality.

This is the star the lakers needed after mamba, this was the whole in our hearts. I also agree Rob is forgiven for the westbrook debacle and giving away caruso a buck and some change.

Awesome behind the scenes information. For sure give Rob his flowers and for having to put up with the “just because he was Kobe’s buddy cracks”. Indeed in this case … 2 men who were part of Kobe’s inner circle pulled off this blockbuster.

And part of the reason I don’t like these supposed “leaks” coming out from alleged Lakers sources about the extra pick and DK having originally been part of the deal and Rob just “worked” Nico and got over on him. I would “imagine” he’s not happy about it either. As others have said there might have been talks about maybe another player we wanted too.

Anyway …. very long article but a “must” read IMO.
