It's weird how MJ legend keeps getting bigger. I get it he was great at his peak I would say he was probably the best but dude his team without him won 55 games and should have made the ECF.and he had some good awful shooting games.

Meanwhile people forgot how good other dudes where like Hakeem was. I mean what a run he had he busted up in the playoffs no less the Admiral, Ewing, and Shaq! That's just bonkers.

You seem the same thing with Magic with folks saying Curry is the greatest PG ever. He's the greatest shooter but dude Magic was Magic

Ruh Roh for Lakers opponents but Luka’s getting his back in shape (more) athletic for his huge guard size, coordinated putting on a clinic elite game fired up again. Not being exposed to him much in the past …. now I’m starting to get the picture just how great he is.

    :MagicmagicTW:

Thank you for the food on our table Lord and thank you for Nico Harrison / Marc Cuban selling his controlling ownership to the dumbest new NBA owners in the league. If Niko went to three teams total completely on his own conviction that Luka wasn’t the guy … no way they would have trusted him that much if they weren’t directing him to do it to not have to pay him the super max.

He is all of that. You'll notice that the more you watch him he likes to get into the mid post and back players down. He will bump them a lot. Then, he will hit them pretty good with his shoulder and back away for a jumper. He learned that from Dirk. He loves the contact. He likes to get players down there and feel the contact so that they know they can't stop him.

He hasn't looked as good as he does right now for the last year or so. He is getting quicker again. He really did just need to take the time off to get truly healthy. I personally want to thank Nico for driving me to a team that actually wants to win.

Starting to round into form just in time for the playoffs. Dude is a maniacal killer on the basketball court. My goodness I’ve missed seeing that so much.

my major point is that the game is played differently, including very important rule changes. olajuwon never saw an off-ball double. they were illegal. we basically played what would have been illegal defense all game against AD last time out. you can't just say that olajuwon's midrange jumpshot would have ended that, nor can you just assume that olajuwon would have also been a good three point shooter. i also am not sure i agree with the assessment of ballhandling here, as again, the ballhandling he did was in different circumstances (it's easier to look like a wizard when you're facing one defender, acting more than reacting).

anyway, it's the luka thread, and we're starting to see why having him by himself is enough to be basically be a contender. which is what having 32-year old AD wasn't going to be.

Technically I think you could have done the off ball double but you couldn't play a zone with a guy in space between ,2 players

Curry isn’t even in my top 5 for best PGs ever.

IF AD had a much stronger base and didn’t always fall on the floor from minimal contact, he could be compared to Hakeem. The Dream was one of the most skilled Big to ever play the game. His footwork, and quickness, down low is still unparalleled to this day for a big man. He was also elite defensively, just like AD.
AD is special, and without him, we don’t have our last Chip, but Hakeem was just on another level.

Lol Curry is definitely top 5. That efficiency on high volume scoring he's maybe the best ever and he's a pretty good traditional PG on top of it.

One few or maybe even only gunner whose fun to play with

Is LeBron personal chef assigned to Luka during this time off? He needs to get down to that weight where he was when he destroyed Phoenix in the playoffs.

    Looked pretty svelte that series

Yeah, this is an opinion thing so you actually can’t tell me who’s in my top five.
He’s the best shooter of all time, but that’s a very different thing than PG.

I knew he was incredible but only saw him a few times a year. I do like the contact to dislodge defenders for easy shots. I feel very confident we are championship bound.

Doncic has only been with us for only half (?) this season... His point production/all around game is now an expected happening.

C Bags fans who think Tatum is on Luka’s level always makes me chuckle. It’s not even close lol. Their argument is always Luka sucks on defense (which isn’t even true) and that Tatum is supposably this great playoff performer yet he didn’t even win Finals MVP last year.

Luka has the second greatest scoring average in NBA history. Not to mention Tatum has played on mostly stacked teams. If you just think Boston and LA fans out of the equation there is no real basketball fan or observer that would take Tatum over Doncic especially in the playoffs.

Luka has already lost a significant amount of weight from he first got here. I don’t understand why so many Laker fans get hung up on this.

Luka was in worse shape last year and carried that Dallas team to the Finals and put up huge numbers.
