In todays game, you have to trust your players. Would we step inside LeBron's team to suggest how he takes care of his body?? Doubtful on any level.

I've been thinking about what Mark Cuban said about the Doncic trade: they failed to understand his cultural background.

    It's here.

yeah, i get it--you're heavily invested in these players as the organization, so you want them to get the best care. but it's borderline creepy to try to take control of how they manage their own bodies. i think this is part of what the issue with kawhi in SA was. i'm sure they felt like they were trying to do what was best for kawhi/luka in addition to their own interests, but they have to agree with you.

i guess you could try to write into the contract, but that's also kind of a trust issue from the start. like, zion and the pelicans don't seem to be friendly.

i think we'll let luka decide his fitness regimen and just hope that he finds new motivation from everyone poking fun at his physical condition. and he may not, citing that he continues to kick their a**** anyway. but the word was that jokic changed his routine a bit after facing some failures, so maybe this will be it, too.

though, again, people need to understand he'll never look like lebron.

True, like Jokic is never going to look like Dwight Howard. As long as Luka puts up 45/8/6, I'm good with his "regimen", hookah + beer and all.

MOVING: This was my response in the Dooms Day thread but that is derailed a bit. So this my take

I think when it comes to Dallas and Luka the most simple answer is probably the most true. They didn't want to pay him a Max contract. I agree that Nico is probably doing the bidding of others as he def isn't going to move the teams cash cow without approval.
I honestly don't buy the chatter about him being too fat but I can see the disconnect with them and his training team if those stories are true. That's a fine line to walk with teams and star players. When you have a Kobe/Bron type who the results show for themselves teams are likely to defer to that BUT if you have Bynum (yup drug big boy out of the Lakers cemetery) then I would think the teams wouldn't be so keen.

In the end, Mavs f'd up in trading the prized cow (dude, what's with the cow references? Yes, talking to myself on that one.) for some magic beans (AD and Max).

I actually think the way Max was playing at the time really kept AR from potentially being added. Nothing more than my opinion but Max was on a hell of a run with us. I wondered if he wasn't balling if they would of demanded AR.

All this reminds me of Divac and his pack of smokes before games.

    Didn’t affect his play either

one of my personal fav Lakers (soft spot) was Kwame Brown. Dude was built like a damn statue but pretty much was mediocre his whole career (thanks to MJ I believe). Just cause someone is a gym rat don't mean crap.

If things don't work out with the Lakers, it's always good to have a fallback option... retail. It's like when Ron Ron got a summer job at Circuit City.

^I thought Artest did a side gig at Best Buy? Or maybe that was in his Pacer days.
