Yep. Bird was one of my favorite players ever growing up. Dirk learned it under Carlisle since Rick played with Bird. Luka picked it up as well from Dirk and Rick. He loves to get that contact to create space. Dude is built like a brick house.

Luka gives us an extra gear now and he’s coming into form at the right time. I like our chances. The west is stacked but we have as good a chance as anyone here.

Without Luka, we wouldn’t have a chance against a couple of West and a couple of East squads. Based on what Luka did last post season, and now being a part of a squad with even more top end talent, I think every team is a bit scared of being able to take us down in a series.
Also, our coaching staff has proven that having a rookie HC, and going through major changes in how we defend and run an offense have not weakened this team’s chances. Nobody would have said that after losing AD and Max that this team could go through an extended period of playing dominant defense.
The gravity of Luka Magic, combined with the ability to play lock down defense gives me hope that this team could win it all.

I think the biggest thing Luka brings is an ability to close out games. Over the last few years we played like the dumbest of idiots to close out games. We forget that every game against Denver was a close game until a late run by them and a late collapse by us. AD/Bron played horrible at the end of games (and in the 3rd qtr for some damn reason). I think Luka brings a better attack and killer instinct that we had truly been missing. Even Bron is not settling for the dribble-dribble-three route and instead attacking the paint at a greater clip.

I'm looking forward to seeing this dude cook when it matters.

Dallas continuing to engage the fans. Good job!

Ellis to Bogut comp should get everyone fired immediately.

What in the world?!? That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard.

I always thought Cuban was a moron but these guys in there now are just next level.

Good for us. Is this contagious? Can we arrange a welcome barbecue with the incoming Nuggets front office?

Why did you think Cuban was a moron? In the darkest days of the Jim Buss era (and candidly, most of the Pelinka era), I used to always wish we had an owner and executive like Mark Cuban who knew what he was doing and made his players feel wanted and valued. Cuban bought the Mavs in 2000 and made them relevant just about every year for the next two decades.

Good lord, those owners and FO deserve whatever they get, and I continue to feel bad for the fans. Luka would have been a Mav for life, they’re so full of s***. I hope AD asks out of there honestly, he’s never going to be embraced there. It’s also comforting on some level because while I’m still not the biggest Pelinka fan, and I think Jeanie still had stuff to prove, it can always be worse, their owners seem like bumbling idiots, and Nico seems like an arrogant moron.

cuban overstepped and made a few bad choices

-trading down for cap space to use on dwight howard--who wasn't even considering them--instead of drafting giannis, when his own FO (same guys who drafted dirk) were telling him he was going to be a superstar
    -bungled nash situation
    -bungled brunson situation

ironically, he was was saved in each case (they went to the finals right after each of the last two, despite the losses, and they ended up bad enough to draft luka after whiffing on giannis--and he listened to his bball folks on luka, learning his lesson).

anyway, i still would take cuban as an owner because a) he'll spend and b) he cares. his flaw was he started thinking he knew more about hoops than his bball ops guys.

i just don't know why dallas is talking about this trade at all right now. like, this is a very bad time to be revisiting. just no comment this stuff until you're in a better position. the continued and volunteered "i'm not owned" stuff is counterproductive in all ways.

you think you'll be better off long-term, fine. say you want to talk about it then. don't keep reiterating it while the guy you moved leads the league's flagship franchise into the playoffs.

Well Cuban and Comic Sans helped bring about "basketball reasons" so there's that.

Yeah, in the past 2½ decades, I'd take him in my top 5 draft of NBA owners. You could never question his give a f***.

Terrible timing. Own it as the fans are rioting in the streets. Own it during the presser after the season when... you won't have to wait much longer. And not when your team is in the play-in and I'm sure Minnesota fans are like
