Basketball wasn’t really big as a sport where I was. I played more volleyball and handball in my youth as a break from tennis. Then at about 13, it was just one sport only. The most I did with a basketball is shoot free throws and try dunks I saw on highlights.

I got into basketball via the great Bill Russell actually, I use to watch his interviews on leadership. I found his concepts on maximising the talent of his team super interesting and then of course Jordan and the dream team were a phenom. Kobe came around and he was an age contemporary that mirrored lots that I loved about sport, the details, the drive, the discipline. And I became a lakers fan because of him and then a fan of basketball in general.

For me, basketball, is a perfect mix of the team and the individual - whereby one player can impact the game to a degree where they can win, but a team of lesser pieces can still overcome the talent gulf of playing the MVP. The tactics and various play styles - just a brilliant game.

this was it for me, and why i loved playing. there was space for individual brilliance and creativity in a game which required cohesiveness and communication for ultimate success. so great.

we will be lucky if he’s back by Christmas with the way our “reevaluations” tend to go.

He's getting "injured" in every game he's playing . Of course he's going to miss time .

We could very well lose the next 4 games with this bad news.

    AR becomes our #1 scorer?

Phil Jackson compared basketball to playing in a jazz combo, which always made sense to me: every guy gets to solo, but you're all committed to the tune and chord changes and listening to each other. You've gotta have almost an intuition verging on telepathy to play as a unit at the highest level.

Lakers can't catch a damn break....

This is the bad part about having LeBron at his age... he's getting old age injuries. Crazy how this happened before the season started. Why couldn't it happen months ago!

If it was just for a game or 2, I might agree, but out for a week or more, it's not just load management.

What does Lebron's age have to do with Luka's injury?

"Seemingly" it did .... from all the out of the blue torso twisting swinging the golf clubs that his body wasn't used to.

Yeah, this is why I wasn’t happy about him playing the FIBA games.
More games= higher probability of getting injured.
Oh well, at least we can look forward to Maxi returning and putting up those 40/15/10 games in place of Luka.
