I doubt the front office would want Gay and I doubt he'd be okay with a reserve role, but I'd gladly take him. I think we could find 20-25 minutes of playing time for him. We could even roll out a line-up with Ingram, Gay, and Deng all on the floor at the same time.

Agree... Gay would want a starting role being one for most of his career at this point. With that said...I still say Sefolosha. Play the 2 and 3 position...can d up there plus switch on the 1 during pick and rolls.

You can sub in Nance for Deng too...Randle slides to the middle. Even younger and faster though not much experience on the floor but you have to start somewhere.

He'd be a great fit with OKC...starting caliber 3 to pair with Westbrook. Not the nova scorer like Durant but brings a third of the production without cutting into Westbrook's shot attempts.

They've cleared exactly enough money to offer Russell Westbrook a two year (plus one) extension so I imagine that's exactly what's going on right now.

If you're OKC you offer him the extension which would lock him in for two years at the current max salary. He gets a raise and you get a modicum of stability after the chaos of Durant leaving. If Westbrook turns down an extension, then trade him now while you can and get into the rebuild process asap. There's no way the Thunder can wait until the deadline to move him when everyone would know how desperate they'd be at that point.

The scary part is I'm starting to worry the Lakers are players in that game. If Westbrook refuses to sign an extension and the Thunder go shopping, I could definitely see the Lakers sending a couple kids to OKC in order to get Westbrook from them.

    Why doesn't someone absorb Gay?

Does anyone know if they want to get rid of Gay?

    Are they calling offering Gay?

Do they want to trade Gay for something else?

Never understood why everyone likes Gay.

I mean I like Gay just as much as anyone else, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Is Gay good in the locker room?

How is Gay with the ball in his hand taking it to the hole?

How would you defend the ball if Gay was covering you?

scary because it would be a risk? still feeling burned by the howard situation. i just trust that the FO wouldn't enter into a situation like this without feeling VERY confident about keeping westbrook. stakes are bigger now, as in the howard trade, i think the FO didn't figure bynum into long term plans. getting westbrook would take no less than two of the young 4, one of them almost certainly being russell (who's the best among them, imo).

Yeah I thought real was willing to give up Russell+Randle for a 1-year rental of Westbrook.

No way real, this is Mitch were talking about... If Westbrook signs next year, then the following year George&Cousins can be UFA.

Can you imagine if kept everyone and signed them?

It's scary to me. But that's because I wouldn't do it.

Scary because we haven't signed Ingram yet. I said Russsell/Randle, but I'm afraid they're considering Russell/Ingram or another such package around Ingram. I don't want to let go of Ingram.

Gay just doesnt seem like a winning type player to me.....big #s from time to time but little impact

-also i brought up the westbrook/okc ext info weeks ago, reports then were he wasn't signing it and no matter who hes traded to he wont sign that ext, he wants to explore FA

They'll part with one of the kids; probably Russell. I doubt Mitch gives us two of the best out of our BEST young prospects; I really doubt that. I've been very critical of Mitch, but he has done very well in trades, drafting, etc; I think the one area where we get on Mitch is convincing top notch free agents to sign here; and, of course, an argument can be made for not getting rid of Pau or Dwight when you had the chance and the Nash deal.

Nevertheless, he's one of the most highly respected GM's. He's a fair man. He knows the value a Westbrook brings to a team, but he's not going to sell the farm for him, IMO. He'll offer 1 of Ingram/Russell and probably Randle. They'll be other players included to get match salaries. However, looking at it from purely asset standpoint; Boston beats us and they probably take the risk on Westbrook. Now, does Westbrook want to go to Boston? Does he even have a choice in the matter? IDK. All IMO!

I'm with you and I tend to agree mostly, it's just the tea leaves that I'm seeing. I hope I'm wrong and I hope nothing comes of it. If the Lakers are as confident as they're rumored to be, then they won't trade BOTH #2 picks for Westbrook. I truly hope that's not the case. If we part with one it'll be a bittersweet moment for me, but I can live with it since we'd end up with an MVP candidate. I just don't like that we haven't signed Ingram yet and the Westbrook news suddenly got quiet. I don't like it at all.

HATE the idea of trading one of Russell or Ingram for Westbrook. If anyone should be thrown out first it's Clarkson/Randle. Clarkson plays so similar to Westbrook they're almost redundant. At least Russell and Westbrook's style of game are completely different. I don't want to trade for him though, so tired of hearing about it on tv every day.

I'm pretty sure Clarkson is untouchable until December because we can't trade him so soon after signing him.

Yeah, like we're gonna tell Westbrook, "Hey! We traded for you so now you have to re-sign with us" lol. Like I said, if he wants to come hell even simply be smart enough to tell the Lakers to not give up assets they can use if he outright signs.

    Cmon y'all.
