Rams games were mostly pretty full to start the year, but fans stopped going when the team was historically boring on the field. I mean if you're going to lose, you've got to be interesting. Same thing going on with the Lakers right now. I guarantee the Rams fill out the first 2-3 home games at least next season.
The McVay and Phillips is a good start to generate healthy optimism into next season. The offense looks to be a work in progress with Goff but defensively they should be fine. Of the Chargers, I'd like to see how they are when their injured players return. There were so many like WR Allen, RB Woodhead, LB Teo, CB Verrett plus their O-line was a revolving line of bodies. Rivers is old but still a gamer. Not sure how much Gates has left in the tank...
Their new TE Hunter Henry had it going for a few games, but...he got injured. Gates actually had a nice string a games too, but he's running on fumes now. He may be good for red zone plays and short 3rd downs, but that's it. The offensive line actually started to look okay in the first few games, as Melvin Gordon started to produce. Then everyone started getting injured, and in true Charger form, started throwing games away they have leads in. McCoy did not know how to keep leads at all, I'm hoping a coaching and scenery change will change that.
I know there are VERY few of us, if any, but I've been a fan for awhile now, and they are technically the original LA team. Just seeing if there are any Bolt fans on this site. We've turned around an 0-4 start to 7-6 and could contend for a playoff spot!
I'm a Rams fan, but I have nothing against the Chargers. In fact I'm counting on Melvin to carry me in the playoffs.
Well that was a bit disappointing, but Melvin helped me quite a bit tonight! I like that kid a lot. Rivers really, really melted down late in this game.
Yeah, seems like the Chargers aren’t great playing at Arrowhead Stadium. Oh well, not sure what it’ll take for them to make the playoffs.
They're still in the hunt, but now they're behind the Ravens. The Ravens have the Bengals and the Colts left so... not good. I think the Bills and Titans could fall out because they're frankly not that great, but we'll have to wait and see.
Titans have a tough schedule with the Rams and Jags to still play. But, the Ravens with their easy schedule will probably take that spot. The Bills have Patriots and @Dolphins. Not sure how things work out if records end up tied, guess they would go by Division then Conference records I guess.
Just reviving this for the lone Charger fan here lol! Going up against the dreaded Patriots this weekend. This Charger team is probably the best I've ever seen and so balanced on both ends of the field to play any kind of team. To make adjustments after getting beaten two week prior, on the road, against the best defense in the league, this team has a special feel to it, and still feel like an underdog. Coach Lynn has been nothing short of a great leader.
I can’t lie, I’ve mostly been a fair weather Chargers fan. I became a fan in 2008 when they had a 4-8 record but then Philip Rivers balled out to end the season and lead us to the playoffs, ended up upsetting the Colts in the Wild Card. But since then there was a lot of mediocrity that was difficult to get through, especially since the Lakers were demanding so much of my passion as a sports fan during that time. Part of it has also been that my attention has been split to my fantasy teams and Red Zone. So this year I finally decided that I’m going to put the fantasy stuff on the back burner a bit, avoid Red Zone and try to focus on Chargers football, familiarize myself with the whole roster, etc So this team right now might be the most excited I’ve ever gotten for a football team. Herbert is a BALLER, and Brandon Staley is damn fearless! I hope the city comes around to supporting them. I was at MNF against the Raiders (SoFi is awesome), and it definitely felt like a road game. But I don’t think LA needs to have an adversarial relationship with the Chargers. They’re NOT the football versions of the Clippers. There is plenty of room to support all the local football teams.
Herbert is a top 3 young QB. He is going to do damage in the league. Just glad my Cowboys were able to squeak by you guys.
I’ll always be a Rams fan first, but honestly, I’ve come around on the Chargers. They’re a good team right now, and Hebert and Eckler are real fun to watch.
Maybe the biggest 2nd half meltdown in the playoffs since Brady came back on the Falcons in the SuperBowl. Gotta give props to Lawrence though for not crawling into a hole after throwing 4 ints in the first half.
