He's medicating his life away, and life currently doesn't hold much meaning to him. If he can't find a new pursuit in life, or meaning that excites him, he is in for steady decline til it's all over. And he won't really care.

I hope someone close to him can reach him and help him find meaning once again. He sure is a lovable person.

If there was something that will occupy his time so he isn't by his own means... Maybe the Laker organization or the staff use him as some sort of an assistant or whatever. The question is will he be responsible enough... Jackson gave him a chance in New York which he did live up to and blew it off.

I think the Lakers are wary of having him around the young guys and influencing them negatively. I also wonder if there's still resentment on his end.

Good points... That CP3 debacle really put Odom in a tailspin. Thing is there have been NBA players that conquered this sort of problem and went on to lead productive, stable lives.

At this point I'm unwilling to invest emotionally, it'll just lead to heartbreak. We as fans, the city of Los Angeles, family members, and friends have all reached out to him and he's ignored everybody. It's his life to lose at this point.

Can't fix stupid. I can't say I feel sorry for someone who has had multiple chances and failed to take advantage. His kids are going to suffer but he obviously doesn't care...why should I?

Clock is ticking for him. He has had enough chances IMO. Its pay day.

at this point, the only person that can help him is himself

he's been gifted a second chance at life and he's decided to throw it away like nothing

The dude has been through more tragedy and heartbreak than most of us will ever experience. He lost parents, a child, cousins,...he has been surrounded by death for a major portion of his life and you call him stupid? I agree that it's ultimately on him to get out of it, but to just call him stupid and not have compassion for a man who obviously has been broken down by tons of personal tragedy...I mean, come on.

Well said. The accumulation of a lifetime of psycho-emotional trauma that would lead to addiction of this magnitude is something most can never grasp or conceptualize. Since we can't wrap our heads around it, let's at least be empathic.

They say you have to hit rock bottom before you can get better. If OD'ing on herbal viagra in a Vegas brothel, going into a coma and waking up to find the Kardashians in your hospital room is NOT rock bottom for this guy, I shudder to imagine what is.

I'd gladly go into a coma to wake up with a few of the Kardashian girls.

Just saw a TMZ report, Odom got through his puking on the plane...landed in Gotham and off to the nearest strip club. Da Lyf...
