Houston likes to bend to every demand of their star. He'd fit in well there. Harden would get along with PG and Lou, they all love their strip clubs (Kawhi enjoys them too, but I think they're a league above) and choking.

After Kobe he’s probably not using helicopters .... ever? I wonder. But to choose to commute from San Diego, wow. He must have a place up here too. No one would do that drive up and back for practice and games all the time.

All this BS with the Slippers made me wonder, when did the fans become so antagonistic?

I never heard any animosity coming from the Lakers side ever until the last couple of years, give or take.

I started noticing them when they seemed to say things denigrating us and saying they were going to own LA. To me, coming into any city that has such a strong franchise like the Lakers and disrespecting them the way they have is just bad form and very offensive to a large fan base. I believe it would have been much better for their long term success to have stayed humble and respectful. That would have given you a chance to share some of the same fans. We, as Laker fans, never gave a thought to the Slippers. Even when we sucked, we didn't much care what they were doing. They still have not won a ring and in the end, that is the ONLY thing that matters. Despite all our years of suckage, we managed to rebuild and win a ring before they did and yet they still are focused on us and taking shots at us. The idea that Balmer was actually paying the press to trash us and build them up is annoying as hell too..

Thing is, they have been such douches to us that the hate of the Slippers has become palpable and thick in the air. I don't see too many Lakers fans that are willing to go with both teams anymore. Honestly, I cannot imagine what it would be like to live here and be a Laker hater. What joy there must be in being part of the smallest sports fan club in history that has never won anything. ????

What do you see as the origins of this rivalry?

Everyone is scared not to try to get some of the LA market (see California Angels or whatever the f*** they are now) if your in SoCal. That being said it's really stupid that one of these alt-LA franchises try to own a different part of the market. The Clippers if they split 1/2 their home games between OC and SD would have had a change in a generation to really create a different identity than the Lakers with a fanbase that would be theirs.

Instead, they are just a very bad version of the Mets compared to the Yankees

What rivalry? We have 17 championships and they don’t even have a Conference Final appearance. We have one of the most die hard loyal fan bases in all of sports and they have . . . Clipper Daryle?

the only rivalry between the lakers and clippers is a geographic rivalry which the media loves to hype up. there won't be an actual rivalry until they meet in the playoffs a few times. maybe we'll finally see that happen this season?

i'll admit, those clippers teams with q-rich and darius miles were very fun to watch. and when they made the playoffs in 06 i was rooting for them. their fans started getting cocky when they got cp3 but i think it was when the fans (and their team) pretty much crowned themselves champs before last season started that it really started getting annoying

Their "fans" got cocky over the 6 years we missed the playoffs and were at our lowest and they were pretty well stacked with the Lob City crew and were beating us every time we played. And with deep pockets Ballmer and all the LED walls hype down there at the L.A. Live area across the street.

The only Clippers team I could stand to watch was the early 90s with a young Ron Harper, Danny Manning and Larry Brown as coach. That team took Utah to the edge in the playoffs. They were kind of fun. Haven't liked them since then.

I mean look they lost by 50 but they still beat us, which is annoying.

I'd talk a lot more if we pounded them the first game, which I fully expected us to do and was unpleasantly surprised when we didn't and actually ended up losing.

Neverthless, Lakers in 6 if we meet them in the playoffs.

That's what bothers me. Lakers had the Clippers in their grasp in the 3rd quarter and AD wasnt playing. Clipper games need to be games you stomp on their throats. Take days off against the Wolves or Magic if you want to load manage. Come on

So far, in the Lebron era, we have tended to start slow and finish hard. It kind of sucks that the league seems to always start us off playing the Clippers. It would be nice if they let us play a month first. Especially since we literally just finished playing in the bubble. This team is going to need 4-8 weeks of playing together to work out the kinks. Most of these guys don't even know what their roles are going to be. Heck, I don't think Vogel knows either. This team is in way more flux than last years team even was. However we have a better built team. On paper, it should be even easier this year but the players still need to figure it all out. There are going to take some time and a few stupid losses to figure it all out, at least that is my guess.

That combo of Kawhii, Beverly, Serge, and PG is a scary defensive unit. Ibaka really fixes a lot of problems they had last year: him and Kawhii due to tend to wear down as the season progresses but they've improved and match up well with the Lakers.
