And per the Slick debate playbook at all costs twist it, change the subject and do NOT respond to what was actually written. It’s the insulting way you debate, not about Russ and not about what neither you nor I know was any actual terms of a hypothetical trade for Irving.
Slick give it a f***ing rest man. Kyrie was not in the cards, nets were never serious about trading him here unless we gutted our entire team and gave them every single thing they were looking for. Look at what they ended up getting in that deal..Dinwiddie and DFS and a pick...that's IT. Dinwiddie is already gone, and DFS is a shell of his former self and it hasn't even been 2 years since that deal. They got a 2029 1st round pick, but Luka is still fairly young and they got a bunch of young guys (PJ, Lively, Gafford, Green, Hardy) that will continue to get better and not to mention Luka will be 29/30 years old at that time, so likely he's still with the Mavs, so they will probably still be pretty good around that time. The Nets literally took a worse deal to avoid trading him here...
Come again?..how was trading Reaves and Christie, gutting our entire team? Westbrook made almost 12M more than Kyrie..what are you talking about? Maybe.. Cuban just decided that signing him to the deal he wanted, was worth the perceived risks, and Rob didn't. It could have been just that simple.
Every time you and I do this I take the time to explicitly detail my points of contention with what you have said or are spamming …. that I believe are provably and logically wrong. That’s the problem you either don’t read or don’t give a s*** about what I or others reply back to you, when you get in your you on an island against the world modes, and just shift away from what was detailed to you and go back on about your talking points.
I’m convinced one poster here is an AI bot, designed specifically to take contrarian viewpoints. It’s the only logical explanation.
this keeps getting lost. we got laker taxed in the kyrie situation. though, to be fair, i think it was partly a kyrie tax--they didn't want to send him where he wanted to go. if you want to criticize the FO about it, start with the previous summer, where i bet we kinda stoked the flames over there. it wasn't as bad as what we did with paul george, but i'd bet some similar shenanigans went on, and bkn's ownership/management did not like it. anyway, we weren't going to get him.
So who was mainly guarding Beardo last night that he only got 12 shots off making 2 of them and 1-7 from 3pt. plus laying the biggest wet mess on the bed with the game "high" -25 for the team during its clipping performance? Where's @Zoyd Wheeler or anyone else that watched the game out of morbid curiosity? https://www.nba.com/game/dal-vs-lac-0042300175/box-score
This is why I said in game time in our final game I want no part of Paul. He’s an every other game player, way too often he just does not show up, puts up 7, 11, 15 point, inexcusable at his salary. Oh and yes, the Nets were never sending Kyrie here, they’d have traded him to China before LA. He also only played in 58 games this year, he’s not super durable as good as he is, with no depth and him missing time we still make no noise.
all this. i wanted george 4 years ago. and i'm not even sure i was right looking back. but not now. nope. and i also didn't bring up that irving played well but once again missed 25 games. our fanbase hates AD; get ready for this guy.
The point is that the Nets were never serious about trading Kyrie here...which is why I said "unless we gutted our team". They were using us to get as much as they could out of the Mavs..which still ended up being very little to be honest. Trash a** franchise that just wanted to send Kyrie anywhere but LA. Also, I think we still ended up with the better deal getting 2 starter level guys for westbrook and keeping Reaves, Christie and one of our picks in the process (and we protected the 2027 pick from 1-4, and if we happen to suck that year and it doesn't convey, it converts into a 2027 2nd round pick which means we will have given up NO first round picks...this wouldn't have been possible with a Brooklyn deal as they woulda made us send 2 unprotected picks).
yes, obviously, right? even if dlo just walks, we still have some things around to improve the team now. that trade was the ultimate save. if our ownership wasn't so cheap, beasley and bamba and the firsts we saved would have turned into to two more rotation players, imo.
