I thought I read in one of those previews on the new facility awhile back that they were having a nutritionist or maybe even a full time cook there on staff? To go with the barber.
Corey Maggette was and still is cool with Kobe. Did some analyst work with the Clippers last year on television. Mo Peterson was on the Raptors when Kobe lit them up for 81 points, also from what I remember had one of the craziest lucky shots I've ever seen.
I never heard any mention of this, but a lot of you were asking for this... during Rob Low's media day discussion, he said the Lakers have hired a Wellness Coordinator named Kristen Andrews to make a customized wellness and dietary program for each player. Here's her Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kristen-andrews-ms-rd-cscs-a81972bb/
Now lets use that Laker money and hire the best training staff. We’ve been injury riddled for the past 6 years.
Only 9th most? Thought we would be higher on that list. Right move though, now let‘s get rid of the celebrity trainer.
If you asked Marco Nunez how long he would be out after getting fired, he would say one week.... Because he’s an idiot.
I’m trying really hard not to make jokes about the Lakers and retreads/inability to look at anything new and or not connected to Kobe, and to make jokes about hiring someone who is working with Fultz... But honestly if Kobe trusted her to keep him held together with the beating he took I actually think she’s good to have back.
Forget the Kobe stuff, she worked with Fultz's thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) recovery. And now she'll work with BI. The only difference between the two and their conditions are Fultz's TOS was largely neurogenic (ie the yips), while BI's is largely hemogenic (ie blood clot). With the Kidd hire partially being for Zo while This he is partially for BI, I guess the FO addressed the "f*** the kids" narrative not so subtly. Great hire btw.
Judy's background is kinesiology (also psychology) which is more about bio-mechanics like Kobe's Achilles's. BI's condition in particular really doesn't fall under her specialties. I mean they'd be better off with this guy for him:
I disagree...body movement is absolutely necessary in BI's proper recovery. The wrong type of movements could cause recompression of major vasculature after his surgery.
Again, more of a hematologist's specialty than a kinesiologist. Body movement and getting his shoulder right is going to apply for sure but it wouldn't hurt to have a specialist working with him. Likely he has his own.
Nothing really wrong with his blood tho. The extra rib compressed his major vasculature within that thoracic compartment. Corrective surgery addressed the underlying issue and now proper therapy will allow the traumatized vessel to heal. Any wrong movements could cause possible recompression tho. Plus if the doc has expertise in psychology, she can help address the proper mentality to have at the free throw line
Are you sure that he had an extra rib? I remember reading something about them removing a rib to get to the blood clot and so it wouldn’t reform but I just thought it was one of the ribs everyone has not an extra.
You can have an extra cervical rib that exists above the normal top rib...so it could be that which caused his compression or it could be an abnormally dense and/or hypertrophied muscle of the clavicle bone/scalene muscles (ie collar bone region). But you're right Cook. It doesn't necessarily mean BI had an extra cervical rib.
