Yep. Been rewatching the series so of course that was the first thing I thought of when I heard Crabbe.

I don’t want Waiters but if the team thinks it’s a good idea, I’m going to trust their decision.

In an empty gym, he'll look good during his workout. The decision will come from his meetings with the staff, Bron, AD, and Rob.

I'm not sold and think he would be a mistake.

I know people will compare it to Dwight who has made us all wrong, but Dwight learned and humbled himself at his age. Waiters isn't at that place mentally, it's too fresh for him possibly to have gotten his s*** together.

I watched him throughout his Cleveland tenure: I'm not sure I like this much.
Dion, if he wasn't stupid, does have the skillset of creating his own shot that the Lakers could use but OTOH he's stupid, takes dumb shots, and based on his Miami experience hasn't shown any signs of maturing. He's never happy just to be a 3

You got to like the chemistry on this team and I just don't see how Dion would fit other than taking Rondo's minutes. He's short for a SG so he's not going to fix the Laker issues with big wings on defense and I trust guys like KCP, Green, and Caruso far more than Dion. Kind of conundrum as the Lakers have a strong rotation of guards outside of Rondo but Rondo is such an anchor

all the candidates take stupid shots and are stupid, JR, Dion, Crawford....you take the youngest n most talented one and that is Dion....not saying it'll work out like Howard but lots of folk here hated that idea too when his name 1st surfaced after Boogies injury

I really don't think any of those guys we pick up will be the contributor we need. Caruso's two way play is way more valuable than adding another guy who scores an empty 15ppg with zero defense, turning the ball over, taking low percentage shots, and playing with low effort.

This team needs more players that can get stops for us. Lebron and AD can get what we need as long as we can put the ball in their hands as often as possible.

The problem is for those 4-14 min lebron and AD sit out a game

Dion has higher potential than JR due to attacking abilities

Say we sign Dion, this would be my 10/11 man rotation
KCP, DG, Lebron, AD, Mcgee (short min)
    AC, Dion, Kuzma, Kieff, Dwight
Avery (depends on matchup, could get more min vs a smaller team that is guard heavy)

i mean, do we have to continue with the charade here? it's been obvious for weeks that we were bringing him on, despite, you know, logic.

At the end of the day, we are giving up someone who wouldn't have played any minutes in Troy Daniels to get someone who can potentially help us. This move will help us regardless of how it ends up. If Dion is a total mess, we just bench the guy. He knows this is his last opportunity. Any mistakes from him and he'll be on his way to China next season.

his contract doesnt have to be guaranteed, give him a clause where we can cut him anytime w/o having to pay him rest of season

This. I’m not that optimistic about the guy to be a big contributor for us, but nobody else on the market stands out either. Worst case scenario he contributes as much as Troy did. Sign him to a non-guaranteed contract and see how he does. If something comes up and we develop a need for another position, you can cut him and sign someone else before the playoffs start.
