    Philly Cheese Swag

The most iconic moment of the turnaround, for both Waiters and the Heat, was his game-winning triple against the Golden State Warriors, which he followed with an arms-folded celebration. You’ve likely seen it memed a time or two (or a thousand).

Thursday, Michael Lee of The Vertical caught up with Waiters to talk about the Heat’s streak, as well as the celebration. And Dion delivered with a quote of the year candidate:

“That’s just that Philly cheese swag,” Waiters told The Vertical. “Now, everybody see me, they do the pose.”

Amazing. Waiters, a Philly native, is surely the first player in NBA history to have “Philly cheese swag,” just adding to the historical nature of Miami’s run.

Of course, Waiters is no stranger to incredible quotes. As he told reporters earlier this year, “I love that moment. You can never shy away from that. I just feel though, like -- one of my favorite quotes is, uh ... I forgot it already. One of my favorite quotes. But yeah, man, you just can’t be afraid to take them shots.”

    Long live Dion Waiters.

The former No. 4 pick—twice discarded by NBA franchises—found freedom last season, his first with the Heat. He showed why he was often compared to Dwyane Wade and did so in the same place the future Hall of Famer built his legend.

For the better part of three months, Miami was the league's surprise powerhouse, resurrecting from an 11-30 start to finish with a 30-11 push that fell a tie-breaker shy of a playoff berth. Waiters was the surprise catalyst—Miami won 58.7 percent of its games with him and only 38.9 percent without.

The talking heads mocked his supreme belief in his ability. The internet laughed at his unrequited calls for the ball.

Waiters has what Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra calls "irrational confidence." Waiters prefers "Philly cheese swag."

This guy is not worth the trouble. We have upstanding citizens right now, why slip in a weed gummies enthusiast in the group?

Irrational confidence indeed. In my day we would just call you a big dummy.

I am not really hearing anything to convince me we should cut one of ours for this guy which is what we'd need to do. I'd rather have Daniels' shooting, Dudley's size and veteran leadership, Cook's team camaraderie and good nature.

Do not want. Not a good team chemistry guy, all me-first. Not the same with as with Dwight either, he sounded humbled at least when he was looking for a team, Waiters remains Waiters.

Many last names are derived from vocations; this one may go the other way.

Why not give Cook a shot before Waiters?

If they got something cooking with Harkless, or some other unexpected move, I'm really good with this.

Otherwise, I'm not happy with releasing Daniels.

given daniels’s statement, it’s possible he asked for the release. He’s got very limited time and needs to secure a payday. Hard to do from the bench, and you can’t justify playing him over green, Bradley, or kcp.

Crabbe hasn't been the same shooting the ball the past couple years. What happened? Was it an injury?

Daniels post implies that it was a mutual agreement. It seems like Daniels is hoping he can get an opportunity for a contender. My guess is the Clippers may contact him. He'd fit very well with the Sixers. Crabbe is a high reward low risk. He is having a bad season now but changing to a contender may light a spark again. He's got a good history of shooting the ball well so it's not like the guy can't shoot. Plus, 6'6. The guy has some size that Daniels didn't have.
