I get that, but I honestly believe that Dragic isn't a player that even does that for us. I think our top picks along with Dragic still misses the playoffs in this current Western Conference. Dragic to me is NOT a big free agent. I don't think Rondo is either after watching how badly he has fallen off the last couple seasons.

Chicago might match, but it wouldn't be a complete shocker if they didn't. They've let players walk over 2-3M difference in negotiations in the past. I still think Butler is the type of talent that's worth taking the gamble on. Wings that can score 20+ PPG while playing 1st team All Defense are extremely rare.

I agree that Phoenix is less likely to match though. After the games they played with Bledsoe, now Dragic forcing his way out, + their history of being cheap, I don't think anyone would be surprised if they didn't match a max offer for Knight. & with it starting around 13M it isn't a bad contract for us, considering the kid will be 24 & is arguably a top 10 PG. Great piece to go alongside the young core we're on pace to have.

I'm greedy though, I want them both. Draft Okafor or Towns. Sign both Butler & Knight to offer sheets. If Butler gets matched, sign Matthews. Shop Okafor or Towns/Randle/Clarkson/late 1st for an allstar big. Damn greedy.

Waste of our time when we could be pursuing other FAs who might actually leave the team they're on. I think we have a much better chance of Love leaving the disfunctional Cleveland (if they don't win a ring). He's already moved and doesn't gel with Bron. The other two have not left their team, are loyal, and no one expects them to go anywhere.

I've already discussed why that's not necessarily true. Check back a page or two to see where that's at. Basically two things: 1) everything I've read is that LA and Dragic are both VERY interested in each other and 2) Dragic might not care about the 5th year if he's not in the right spot- he might structure his deal to opt out anyway so that he can get a larger contract when the cap goes up.

Dragic wants to run his own team. Will he get that in Miami? Maybe, but probably not. Will he get that in LA? Pretty much.

Of course, I mean, I don't expect Mitch and Co. to wait around for these guys if they don't accept an initial offer.

Send the offers out to everyone on Day 1. First one to accept wins.

Under no circumstance would I trade either Okafor or Towns. We need to build and stop trying to buy a ring by giving up the few assets we have. I view franchise bigs as nearly invaluable pieces. Even if we traded one of them in for a win now player, we wouldn't be good enough to win now. Build and compete until you can lure a franchise player via free agency with pieces already in place.

Well the market isn't great for FAs that we are likely to get, so I just want any of them that we've got a chance at. Dragic, Rondo, and Love all seem to be "gettable" if we hand out a max deal and they keys to the car. Fine. Go get them! I don't care about anything else.

No it won't necessarily get us the playoffs, but it'll get us much closer and make us a much more attractive destination than we are right now.

Love is the only attainable FA that brings us closer to the playoffs, IMO. Aldridge and Gasol are staying. Rondo could actually make us worse depending on what version of Rondo we get and how he meshes with our unit. Dragic is a 2nd tier pg who has somehow tricked a lot of people into thinking he is great.

I think getting rondo would be a disaster. Hes no longer the rondo of old. Hes injury prone and still can't shoot. His defense is overrated.

He'll get it in Miami. He'll also get $20 million dollars more, too. If he leaves, Dragic had Miami has one of his 'preferred' destinations when this all began, and I don't think that changes once he gets to Miami. Plus, Riley is a master salesman; Spo is a great coach. He'll stay. If he doesn't I'll gladly eat crow.

The dude is a 3rd Team All-NBA player last year. He's not a dud, he's got plenty of game. Even if Dragic is 2nd Tier guy, if we get the right player in the draft (hello Okafor) we're back in business. Okafor, Randle, Clarkson, and Dragic moving forward is a hell of a start. Is it a playoff team? Maybe not, but it's a lot closer to the playoffs than it is the last spot in the West that's for damn sure.

And given that we've got money freeing up each summer for two years, it's time to start spending the money.

I'm not married to the idea of Dragic, but I'm married to the idea of getting SOMEBODY.

^We're going to spend this summer. The FO and fans won't endure another season of this crap we're watching.

We'll revisit this in the summer, but I think this is far from cut and dry. Miami gave up essentially nothing important, but a pick from 2021 that's unprotected. They gave up another 1st that's got a little more protection on it. If Dragic leaves it won't kill them, that's why Riley made the move. I think if LA pushes hard for Dragic this summer, he's theirs. That's the impression I've gotten from all the separate reports I've read. Dragic wants to be responsible for the revitalization of either NY or LA. LA has more young assets than NY and a vastly superior culture. I could see him making that leap for sure.

None of those will stick. Jimmy Butler is staying in Chicago and Phoenix will match any offer to Knight

That's really all I'm asking. Go get a FA that matters and let's start moving this rebuild in the right direction. If that means max money, so be it. The penalties on that will really be alleviated when the Cap explodes and we'll STILL have a max to offer next summer anyway. Spend the money and get a FA no matter what it takes.

Agreed. You know what? Go get Monroe. I'll join you on the Monroe train. Let's go get him...

Sure! If we draft a PG/SG/SF type, let's go nuts on Monroe. I'm down for whomever. Let's just go get a FA and get some momentum going in the right direction here.

We are out of luck then because there really isn't much else. Monroe is offensively gifted and defensively r*******. Tobias harris is skilled and up and coming but no star.

Yeah at this point we almost have to overpay just to get going. Can't stay in this stagnant situation.
