I like this dude before we got the No. 2 pick. Since we were pumped fake into thinking we'll get Okafor, I completely removed him from my wish list. He is equal to or might be better than Okafor actually :D

Yep...Howard, Jordan, Gasol, Aldridge/Duncan, Towns, Moscov, that big kid in Philly. Here's hoping that Upshaw kid...gets it straight and contributes more than expected. Backcourt better average over 40 a game... It could win a quarter or a third of the regular season games but as things wind down and we miraculously make the playoffs where it becomes a slow, torturous grind? No...

Get bench players who play D. Let's have a guy who can score and board with the best of them. Plus he is young too.

Back up plan, pure and simple. Only if Plans A, B & C don't pan out. The team needs to make a splash this off season to justify that TWC contract. Even a small splash is better than no splash right now. But LMA and Jordan at the very least have to be higher priorities. Even Wade would be preferable on the Splash-O-Meter, and then sign RoLo or Biyombo.

I think LAL will really have to impress in meetings in order to get a top FA. If money is equal and you are 30-year old Aldridge it's tough to pick LAL over Spurs. Same for Jordan, with LAC offering more money and DAL getting him back to his home state. Still gotta go for them, but Mitch is going to have to put on the performance of a lifetime to get it done.

    I think you're right.

I can't see why LMA would want to come here when
    A) SAS can win immediately
    B) he wouldn't be forced to play PF
    C) he wouldn't be relied to play heavy minutes at ages 30-34
    D) he wants to go home to Texas
    E) San Antonio matches his private personality
    F) there's less income tax in Texas

That's a whole lot of odds stacked against the Lakers. As for DeAndre, I could see him signing here if the CP3 rumors are true, or if he's looking for a 1 + 1 contract.

Anyway, back to Monroe. Why don't we just sign Davis for half the cost if we want more defense?

re: Aldridge, Duncan also has been loathe to play center for long stretches. the only teams that can truly offer him a full-time pf spot sensibly are his current one and ny.

also, lol @ Monroe wanting to play for a team ready to win...and meeting with philly and boston.

We need a vet. We need some defense if possible. Then we need a SF, except if Randle is prepared to play some 3. So, basically, no to Monroe.

Yeah that's some grade A dung his agent is floating out there.

Monroe's Agent: "We really want to go to a contender if we're leaving Detroit guys."
All GMs: "Then why are you meeting NY, Boston, freaking Milwaukee, and LA?"
Monroe's Agent: "We're uh... just doing our homework. Greg is a seasoned veteran you know, it's time to look for a ring. You guys wanna offer a max or...?"
All GMs: "He's 25 years old."
Monroe's Agent: "Yeah... Yeah he is... So we're thinking 4/72 million. Max deal, eh?"
    All GMs: "You're an idiot."

i think he can and should get max. i just think the "ready to win" stuff has become super boring. yes, everyone wants to win instead of losing. i'm guessing a max in philly would win over 10 per offer from say, san antonio, though.

I agree, just joshin' around. I think he's worth the max, I thought so last summer. Detroit scared off suitors and now they'll lose him for nothing. I think he's a good Center. Honestly he's what Okafor likely is these first few years of the young man's career. He's only 25 years old and he has a lot of good qualities. He's really not a great fit now, but again we're not in a position to complain about ANY good FA coming our way.

Monroe meeting with the Bucks is very interesting. After taking on Vasquez they're already going to have to go over the cap to match a max offer to Middleton. If they sign Monroe, matching an offer to Middleton would make them taxpayers.

When they said "positionless basketball", we had no idea they meant they were all centers lol.
