They said they wanted length on defense, a roll to the rim finisher, and a 1 year contract.

Julius didn’t check those boxes as our main priority, and was unwilling to get paid as an after thought.

I would definitely take him back, and maybe a year at another franchise not as well run may lend him a different perspective. Unfortunately, I think - and I hate to make the comparison, but I think he thinks higher of his game than it really is ala Dwight Howard.

Thinks he’s max worthy, but with obvious holes in his game. If he was taller he probably would be. But he’s putting in the work, so maybe he gets there. At least he’s not a knucklehead like Dwight.

Am soooo going to miss these. Definitely among my favorites from your now voluminous body of work.

Of course a fellow 9er fan wanting smashmouth defense, gets me!

    :Beertoast2:

Also, Jules definitely fit the narrative in being our smallball center that can be a SmashBro as part of our death lineup, but again he's an idiot for keeping that lame around representing him.

Pacers coulda thrown a ton of money at Jules...they didn't #ErinEffect

BK coulda extended DLo at a reasonable bump in pay and still protect themselves from his injury concerns...they didn't #ErinEffect

LA pretty much let Jules walk and didn't hand him his bird rights in the process, which will cost him millions in the future....#ErinEffect

Seriously, f*** that dude...feel bad for Jules and it woulda been an ideal fit, but he f***ed up in keeping that b**** around him.

ESPN has had fun mocking the unnamed exec who said this today. Used phrases like “life support lineup”, “coach killer lineup”, mocked how our death lineup is just LeBron and “4 guys”. Will be fun to win a bunch of games and hear them never bring it up again.

It will all be how Lebron's greatness over came the 4 guys. Book it. It's how it was when the Cavs won and the media blaming everyone else when they lost.

I know Luke will be prepared. He's done his homework talking with Erik, Ty, and Lebron. Luke even echo'd it - games that we lose next season the media the next day it will be like the sky is falling and everything is falling apart. But that's where togetherness and culture will be paramount and Luke has great experience in those areas from his time playing with Kobe and Phil and while under Kerr with the Warriors.

The frustrating part will be that most of the fans on this board understand this and will still flip out over a loss. I'm hoping we get off to a better start than most imagine to limit this early on.
