For sure the talent is there... But Byron is right, i saw him a little lazy during the game, he's got to learn that every single rebound or good pick is what separate a W from a L, not only the made FGs.
I've got great expectations from him; phisically is impressive, he even treats the ball in a polite way for a big...

I'm sure Byron and Kobe will annoy him so much with "greatness talking" that he'll have to become great! :D

    Well that's the thing.

Randle may have been babied his entire career, with no repercussions for just jogging back because "it's Julius." No more star treatment here, talent or not, he needs to learn discipline. Just because he's talented offensively, doesn't mean he gets to take breaks on the way back.

If Byron catches Randle jogging back, with his man beating him down the floor, Byron should pull him aside and tell him he's going to the benched if that happens again or ask him to take him out if he's too tired.

I think it's legit. He went from high school to college to Summer League to the NBA. That's so much adapting for him to do. Literally 18 months ago he was playing against HS dudes; now he's playing in the NBA. I agree that it's not necessarily an excuse; it's just a fact. He'll have time to work out his conditioning and become a force. As a rook, we don't need him to play 30+ every night.

I haven't seen him with his shirt off now but would "imagine" he is still pretty ripped. He is probably just lighter in weight and who knows.... may be in better cardio shape now than he was there. I remember when Kobe was more buff too. If he's quicker now and maybe has dropped a little of that impressive bulk, I'll bet that is more what Scott wants.

I agree with scott whole heartedly. I love Randalls game but he does need to workon his conditioning.

This - it's not possible for someone to be lazy on the Lakers and survive Kobe.

Every time I see Kwame (a guy I defended repeatedly) I think of the story when Kwame asked Kobe not to pass him the ball any more.

That and the fans booing him that game was the last straw as a Laker. And I'm with you: I defended him too. Hey, he helped us get 2 rings!

I can tell you one thing though... all the greats (and not only in basketball, see Messi, Lionel) rest on the court. May be it's a sign of greatness?

Yeah I find it very unlikely that Randle is "lazy" and more likely that he gets lazy when he's tired. A truly lazy guy would already have lost Kobe. I don't see that. I see a kid who's 19 and not in the best shape, but not an inherently lazy kid that's unwilling to improve.

    I don't see Dwight Howard.

I'm worried Byron and Kobe are gonna break this guy the way Jordan did with Kwame.

i actually am not getting that vibe at all. Kwame was broken when he came into the league. Mentally fragile. Everything Randle has said sounds like he gets it. I love this treatment and i think everyone will be better off for it.

    I'm with wallangong.

Julius has said recently that he's fully embraced their treatment of him. He seems to understand not just what they're doing and saying, but WHY they're saying it. They wouldn't push him like this if they didn't see great potential. He knows that and he's embracing their push.
