are we tipping the hand on swider to smokescreen? i feel like we now have the rep SA used to have, and i think they had to resort to trickery not to get scooped.

I know in the past we've had info about private workouts leak after the draft. Guys that were brought in once or twice that weren't part of these group workouts. I would think that after the AR move, we'd be smart about it because everyone is watching and waiting to run to Silver to yell foul. Thought it could be an agent favor to get the kid more press, but the agent only has one other client. Maybe our scouting department misses Kuz that much (comp made a couple times)? Maybe we were short a body and he was in town? But I agree, if it's not gamesmanship, inviting a guy for a second workout publicly is dangerous.

I do hope we add one or two guys to the main roster from the draft/undrafted route. We need depth and talent and can’t depend on vets the whole season. Watched teams in the playoff deploy young players and they produced instead of looking like deer under the playoff lights.

i'm of two minds, i guess.

    1. we were entirely too old last year, and we got basically nothing from ellington and baze. so we need to be digging for more reaveses and carusos all day long.
    2. i also hope that whoever we get this year isn't good enough to be our 4th best player like reaves was last year. because that means we're terrible again.

iow, i hope we grab a couple good development guys whom we play two years from now.

Kam brothers had Garcia on today

They had him pick 3 players for us:
-1 if we can only buy one pick, but it'll have to be an early 2nd rounder: David Roddy
    - if we can scrounge up enough for another pick (40s): Jabari Walker
    - undrafted target: Quenton Jackson

For more draft content, Anthony Irwin spoke to SB Nation's Ricky O'Donnell about the draft today
    https://megaphone.link/VMP5276103770

Roddy is interesting. He said he's been studying Robert Williams. I think he can stick as a more mobile/athletic PJ Tucker type. He has the profile to guard 2-4 which is enticing. One-two weeks ago he was late 2nd to even undrafted, now he's late 1st/ early 2nd for most. Garcia talks more about him in the pod today with the Kam brothers.

yeah, i think i just can't be convinced because pj tucker is sort of the exception that proves the rule in terms of his body type. and tucker's a really weird case who had to find his way out and then back into the league as a different kind of player.

anyway, i can see why folks like him on film...i just always jump to "who's this person guarding?" does 2-4 mean really none of them (like 3-4 often means on offense)?

i suppose it's moot with him shooting up the draft boards, though.

champaigne looks like a poor man's marcus morris to me. that's either good or bad depending on your valuation of the rich man's version (i don't love it).

walker jumped off the page at me for some reason. just liked how he moved at his size on the perimeter, defensively. you can work with that.

Couple significant notes from Kyle Goon with the OC Register...

    Swider stole the show
And apparently that was our best overall workout

Heard he can't defend a lick.

Now, he was horrible @ Villanova, but was apparently better @ Syracuse via @ Mike Garcia.

I haven't seen any footage myself; I'm just listening to others on him. I might go check out a vid tonight, though.

One very important note during his post-workout video with the Lakers media after his "second" workout: he's also worked out twice for the Bucks and Atlanta.

Going back and looking Bucks have the 24th pick & Hawks have the 16th and 44th.

Rob will have to be creative if they want him, possibly.

Don't think so. Can't think of a comp, but I like his size; according to Mike, his usage was insanely high. Also, had 72 percent of his shots contested. Percentages were okay. Defensively, very solid, good help defender, etc.

Might not matter, though. Lakers have their eyes on Swider unless they're fooling us...:)

Here's where ESPN has some of the guys going that have been discussed as possible options for us...
    Andrew Nembhard - 32nd
    David Roddy - 40th
Walker and Swider - not drafted

    Bleacher Report
    Andrew Nembhard - 32nd
    David Roddy - 39th
    Jabari Walker - 47th
    Trevion Williams - 59th

    The Athletic
    Andrew Nembhard - 30th
    David Roddy - 49th
    Jabari Walker - 50th

    Swider - undrafted

    The Athletic's Top 100 Prospects
    40. Andrew Nembhard
    49. Jabari Walker
    51. Trevion Williams
    59. Julian Champagnie
    62. David Roddy
    63. Keon Ellis

One thing worth mentioning that helps us in this draft is there are only 58 draft selections (Bucks and Heat had to forfeit their 2nd rounders). Might lead to one of the fringe guys going undrafted.

I'm there with you, he's my pick in this one. The only negative I see is his dad was a dumb dumb. But he checks all the boxes for our weakest position. D, capable 3, good mechanics, size, motor.

Of our “8 publicly reported workouts”

 …. I stopped counting at 176 that were reported here?

i feel like they are, but we'll probably find out by the end of the day. they should definitely start using their success to misdirect, though.

man, the draft, as a process, can be really, really stupid:

like when folks are disappointed with a shuttle run or something. c'mon, people.

Does he not have an agent? How was this missed or not questioned when they were seeing his mocked position?

it was caught, i should have linked:

    https://www.basketballnews.com/stor...t-gordon-hayward-age-younger-years-old-rumors

but i mean, as tim connelly said the other day, we know if these guys got a detention in 3rd grade, but we also get snowed on, you know, their actual age.

i see why some teams just don't bother with it unless they have to. and i don't see how the perennial lotto teams think they have it down to a science (even though their status indicates they clearly do not).

the espn piece on houston today was just vomitous platitudes emanating from losers. we're going to build this thing right, ground up. find the right cornerstones. "draft capital". "high upside" (lol at the writer having to justify drafting green over mobley and taking oladipo over jarrett allen and levert). "the nba punishes the middle", late lotto as purgatory, "our goal is a championship only".

shut up. you're in last place. get to the playoffs, then worry about your freaking dynasty. just liars snowing everyone to keep a job. some are probably snowing themselves, though, i guess.
