bouyea, vince williams, and jabari walker are both projected to go undrafted in lots of places, wonder if we can get them in camp without having to buy a pick. ron harper jr and keon ellis also look like they'll be available either mid-second or as udfa. nembhard looks like he'll go early 2nd, so we're out on that one.
Mike Garcia made the rounds on today's Lakers pods. Went on both SS&R and LFR to talk draft picks. Both are good listens as draft night approaches. Mike seems the highest on Walker and Ellis. Pete with LFR liked what he saw of Walker to (Mike sent him vids of some of the prospects he wanted to talk about and based off those, Walker popped)
walker's my guy, tbh. fits what we need, should be able to fight for PT as soon as this year, unlikely to be drafted out of our reach.
funny that they liked trevion williams, too. i liked the footage i saw of him. i worry about how you defend with him on the floor, but he's like a stouter boris diaw on offense. interesting that they like roddy (as does everyone). i haven't loved what i've seen from him. he's really fun to watch because he's built like an nfl tight end but has shooting and ball skills. but like williams, i don't know if he can defend. at least williams is even bigger and thus could just bang on the block, but roddy is only 6'5" (260lbs listed!).
Sounds like we think there's a good chance our guys go undrafted. Or maybe we've given them the blueprint of how to AR it. But if we get the sense they're going to get picked up, we're ready to open up the checkbook.
shaq's right. i don't think his son's future is in pro basketball. but i guess he's got family wealth, so he can afford to try to strike while he thinks the iron is hot.
honestly, as detailed above, a few of my personal favorites are being projected to go undrafted, so if the lakers agree with me, buying picks won't be necessary.
