LOCKED ON LAKERS -- 7/30 -- Mailbag Pt. 2: If they make it, which team would the Lakers most likely face in the finals? “Another day, another super-filled mailbag. I dove right in to answer questions about which role player I'm most excited about, which lineup I want out there in the final moments of a finals game (and who I think the Lakers would be playing), my all-Lakers teams and more.” LOCKED ON LAKERS -- 7/31 -- Lakers Player Previews: DeMarcus Cousins “Pete and I preview DeMarcus Cousin's season and, really it starts and ends with his health. Should he fully recover, the Lakers might have insane value given what they're paying him. There are some questions about fit, though.”
I found this to be a particularly entertaining show. Anthony and Pete were together in person, they talked about Griffin/LeBron and gave a little peek behind the scenes at the media game (I never realized a writer would vote for a player on the awards ballot in order to keep their access to them, even if it seems obvious now), and they answer a bunch of mailbag questions Silver Screen & Roll 8/1 - Can Avery Bradley have a bounce-back season with the Lakers? I haven’t been able to keep up with these podcasts and thus this thread lately, been really busy, but great podcasts today about the impact of losing Cousins, who can and should step up, who we could sign to replace him Direct Link Really liked some of the takes on this one. I know AD doesn’t want to play the 5, and we need to keep him happy, and LeBron doesn’t want to play the 4, but they’re right, our best lineup includes them at the 4 and 5. Lot of swearing in this episode too, just a heads up. LOCKED ON LAKERS -- 8/16 -- Lakers lose DeMarcus Cousins for the season
If you think Dwight would be a low risk, high reward signing, do yourself a favor and listen to the first 12 mins of this at least. Pete and Anthony might help you remember who Dwight really is. Every single team he’s left has been happy to see him go. He’s not low risk, he’s a waste of a roster spot when you eventually have to waive him, and just asking for trouble in the locker room. LOCKED ON LAKERS -- 8/19 -- Really, Lakers? Dwight Howard?
Direct Link Looking forward to an emergency Locked On show with Anthony and Pete lamenting signing Dwight for a half hour or so too.
First show I’ve listened to in a while, probably because Pete has been gone for a while, but the topics felt relevant and entertaining
Some really good podcasts today, worth sharing deeeeep into this long offseason. Direct link I love this particular memory Locked on Lakers 9/20 - Draymond Green on LeBron James' legacy; Doc Rivers on Lakers, Kawhi Leonard “Pete and I first discuss the idea of athlete empowerment in all its levels, then we react to Doc Rivers' story about Kawhi Leonard's preferred meeting locations.”
A fun one after a fun, yet meaningless win “The Lakers went out and dominated the Warriors -- granted, they were hilariously undermanned. Still, we've seen the Lakers not take care of business in spots like this and they absolutely took care of business last night. I discuss the frontcourt, the backcourt, and how Kuzma can make them even better than what we saw.”
It's great that LFR is now releasing twice a week. An interesting point they made out here was how successful D'antonis Suns 7 second or less team was because they were doing something different compared to the rest of the league. Same goes for the pre Durant Warriors, (and imo Denver with a strangely skilled big man). Seeing as how more teams are going small, with us mostly going big, we might be able to find regular season success by being so different.
I think I’m going to turn this into a thread for Laker Film Room videos as well. He’s doing stuff for Spectrum now so he’s getting top quality video to work with. Latest one
Not sure if this is the right thread but I could use some advice. The time for me to cut the cord is long overdue. I was on the phone with Spectrum this morning and realized literally the ONLY reason I'm paying for cable is Laker games. Everything else I could lose (or get through streaming) but the Lakers alone keep me paying jacked-up fees for one friggin' channel. Do any of you have a good guide for how to get all the nationally televised games (ESPN, TNT, TBS, ABC, etc.) without cable? It's hard enough knowing I'm about to lose over half the games for the season.
